No kidding Senator Hawley. As if Joe or Kamala would ever offer Trump, the guy who they have repeatedly claimed is a threat to democarcy, the "maximum protection" possible.

If you had asked me a week ago, I would have said this was a transparent attempt to get Google to increase their lobbying spend (read: bribes to the Democrats). This week? Who the hell knows.
I could see Biden going fuck it all, but I have to imagine there's enough checks and balances in place to prevent him from actually doing anything, especially now that he's no longer useful to them except as a failure sink.
It's also a very dangerous game either way, with the Democrats on the back foot at the current point and seeming to be ready for a rather historic stumble, who knows if Big Tech is going to re-evaluate their relationship with the Uniparty vs the Populists?

I just want to have an election where you go to a polling station and your ballot is put in a box that is being constantly monitored by a dozen pairs of eyes of poll watchers who's task is to is keep each other honest. Then the box is taken to a sterile room with cameras, poll watchers, and other security measures while ballots are being fed into an analog counting machine with people doing manual counts too to make sure it is accurate. Every ballot box being counted has an air tight record that is verified by bipartisan poll watchers instead of these midnight last min drop off by the post office that we got in 2020.
I don't see how Trump can not get the popular vote. This election is just "Do you want Trump yes/no" and I think most people in the NO camp are burnt out and would rather just wash their hands of the issue and not vote.

And the entire time DOKTOR Jill has made damned sure she wasn't involved in anything, because remember: It's Kamala's literal job to take over if Biden's incapacitated, and he's been incapacitated for at least 3 months (Biden/Trump debate) and probably closer to 5+ years. In theory, she should have noticed he was permanently out to lunch and took power, if not quietly in the background, then openly calling for the 25th amongst the cabinet. But she didn't, because doing the right thing isn't part of democrat culture, it's all about gaining and keeping power.

I don't want to see people unalive themselves on live TV ... But I would completely and totally bask in the delightfulness of another 2016-like meltdown from Maddow. Watching that in real time is one of the best things I've ever seen on live tv.
I was on my 3-week honeymoon when the 2016 Election Night happened (my husband and I did the early voting thing literally right before we left, which was the night after our wedding. I even wore my wedding veil to the polls to be a dork about it, and the poll workers got a huge kick out of it-- maybe not so much if they knew we were voting for Trump, but still), haha. We definitely have a picture of us from the polls that night that is still one of my favorite pictures of my husband and I, haha.
We had a busy and really fun day during election day, and we decided to have a relaxing night in because we were both tired from being in the sun all day. I refused to watch the news, so we watched a livestream. However, once Trump won Florida ... I vividly remember telling my husband, "OK, turn the damn TV on right NOW," and we ended up being awake for most of the night going from channel to channel laughing our asses off at the meltdowns while splitting a bottle of Jack.
A Trump victory next month would make me so, so happy ... But I doubt that anything will beat Election Night 2016 for me.

I believe that there's going to be plenty of salt mining and meltdowns if Trump wins ... But nothing can replicate the utter shock and horror from the left and the establishment over what happened in 2016. Right now, it's kinda feeling like depression is already setting in, and the media is bracing everyone for impact.

Yea the real issue is that democrats have an advantage in that there are multiple urban areas that lean 80%+ D, and these areas also don't tend to actually vote on their own.
This allows them to go into these areas and just collect un-submitted ballots indiscriminately, as worst case they are still around 80% D. They also all live really close together so a single person can collect a large number of ballots in a short time, and since they don't typically vote on their own there are a lot of unsubmitted ballots waiting to be collected. They don't have to actually fill them out themselves or print fake ballots.
One of the big problems with 2020 was that a bunch of states implictly sent out ballots to people who didn't even request them so it was really easy to pull this off a lot of places.
Some states have now made that permanent (implicitly sending every registed voter a ballot in the mail).
One state that did try to address this is GA, they made some changes that will make it much harder to actually get away with dropping off hundreds of ballots at a time (you now have to enter the polling location during normal hours, where last time they would drive up at 3am, not even have to get out of their car and just dump the ballots on drop boxes in the street.
