He bought an old schoolhouse up in the boonies. The kind some people with money, contractors and lots of sweat can turn from hovel and moneysink to livable and quirky country home. Bad move unless you really know what you are doing, and I bet Billy is even worse with hammer than with his art.

Peak schadenfreude. So much of this was him setting himself up for failure by grifting and being a creep.
I have been noticing more critical comments (against him, his production quality, or the Trans Rights Movement as a whole) on his X and Facebook pages in the past year. Only place that’s still a hugbox for him is Tumblr, judging by the notes I whenever I check there. This intrigues me, as most people that I know that used to share his comics on my dashes consider themselves LGBT allies. Either he is becoming passé or people are starting to find out things like the baby tracing.
Finnish job market is pretty shit right now. You also need to know more than rudimentary Finnish to get one even if the job mostly speaks English, let alone obtain citizenship down the road, because Finland. I wouldn’t expect him to be fluent, but he’s been in the country for like, two years and hasn’t taken a course and/or been getting language help from his wife by now, well… He was trying to coast on being a self employed “artist” in a dilapidated schoolhouse bubble until Kela nipped that in the bud.
Which explains why he’s going to a Finnish language class now (and grifting recuperation of what costs he has). One of the conditions of Kela unemployment is applying for a few jobs per month. That pauses if you’re learning a skill that will help in the labor market… like Finnish language. If he wants to stay in Finland, he’ll need to either keep paying as self employed or get a job. Kela has been making a lot of cost cutting measures lately, including revising who qualifies for certain types of unemployment.
Basically, Billy tried to play the system and the system shut it down. Love that for him.
Billy finally realized who most of his audience is and he hates it. And in troon logic, if you criticize them for any reason then you want them to kill themselves.

Yeah, he was hoping to turn it into a commune for “young trans artists.” No doubt young, male artists aged about 13.
It was a really fucking dumb idea from the start. Catering to a minority who have no money. Billy likes to imagine that he’s the voice of trans youth, but in reality, most of his sales come from adults.
I think the baby-tracing was the beginning of the end for him. Troons love to eat their own, but they quickly move on. The real impact was that he was no longer the squeaky-clean representative of trans youth among liberal normies. That crowd like to believe that the perverts are a small minority, so they’re going to quietly “forget” about the absolute unit in a dress who came over and kept trying to give the kids his number.

@toilet_rainbow not to mention the fact that government wants him to cough up some insurance payments, retroactively. So the way it goes, he will either get into debt collections (so he will have issues trying to get rental or financing anything, not to mention loans etc) or is blatantly lying. Also, big if, if it gets to that point, good luck with mortgage (if any).

I knew a few people who went from "well, the art quality is horrible and there's no actual story just preaching, but Sophie's heart is in the right place" to "WHAT THE FUCK THIS IS NOT OK" overnight over the traced baby. Notably, the first residency permit in Finland is good for a year, while the first extended one is good for four. So Billy is around time to renew it or go back to Canada.

I did some searching for any hint of a miscarriage around this time, but I didn't find anything. It's possible (I suppose) that Billy just kept it private, but I feel like he's too much of a shameless grifter to let such an opportunity "go to waste". At the very least, I think he would have hinted at a "sudden tragedy" or something to get some sympathy from his fans and to have an excuse for his low work output.

So again, he makes it sound like the baby is coming soon... even though it should have already been born if he had been telling the truth in those tweets from early 2023. And of course, we haven't heard a single new thing about the baby (or IVF) in all of 2024 so far. Very strange!
Assuming Billy isn't making all of this up for some bizarre reason, I'm guessing they're having a mix of infertility & monetary problems. (Maybe they paid for a round of IVF that ultimately failed, and they were planning to try again, but they keep having to delay it due to being broke... something like that?)
But also, I think Billy was lying/exaggerating about the baby situation. Just my gut feeling - something about it stinks.
