Also JLPT N1 sperging cos I can't help myself: Japanese students seem to love claiming that "N1 would be hard even for Japanese people" but I showed my Japanese friend some n1 practice questions (yes, including kanji) and he breezed through them.

Isnt this super-duper hard, especially post covid? I remember pewdiepie saying how getting over to japan took him multiple YEARS and in the end it went through because he had opened his own business there lol. If an internationally known youtuber had difficulties getting in I dont see much hope for our favorite sperg weaseling in.

COL is quite a bit lower in Japan. It isn't much, but it's enough to get by comfortably, if a bit frugally, even in Tokyo.

Not necessarily a bad salary all things considered it was decent 20 years ago. I mean I knew people back in Japan who were pulling that down and living comfortably. Not great but comfortably in their crappy apartment and were able to save up some money.

But what would he be doing? He has no skills. His degree is next to worthless. He knows nothing except Bing! Bing! Wahoo! and it can't be for teaching English because even JET doesn't pay that much and they're the gold standard.

Honestly... I'm thinking Cheebs is so blinded by his love of going to Japan that he's not seeing this sounds rather too good to be true.

It's possible to livc there on that amount. Japan is made out to be horribly expensive and it can be but you can live there on the cheap if you know what you're doing and don't go out drinking at the high end bars every night.

I doubt it's a troll, it's just an impossibly bad deal. They want him to get his own working permit, not sponsored by them, and only promise to pay 27k annually? You would make more money ringing up groceries at a Kroger's, like a lot more money. I'm sure for such a steal they'd find a way to use him. It's basically free labor for them.

Not only that, they were noncommittal and said that they can talk about the opportunity after he gets a permit to work. Not a promised job at all

The wording of Chibi's post strongly hints at this being the case. He doesn't say he'll have the job if he can secure the visa, he says they are 'more than happy to talk to me about employment'.

That's as much of a commitment as 'unfortunately we have decided to go with a different candidate, but will keep your resume on file in the event that another position becomes available.'

In the most literal sense, unlikely, but even if things go exactly as planned we all know it's not going to be what Adam expects and he will want to leave after a month or two of reality setting in.

Adam, obtaining a visa isn't as simple as just saying "herro, beeza o give koodasai".

The requirements for Japan are extremely strict because they don't want unskilled doofuses (see: you) shitting the place up and taking precious resources from the aging population.

If he takes one cursory look at the pre-requisites, he's going to start doomposting about how he needs to trap a true and honest o jou san into a loveless marriage.
