money, first of all. he's not making any money on his streams, and he's fighting 3 different and expensive legal battles (not including any of the traffic violations). taking a plea makes the most financial sense, period.

also, ego: losing in court will be so much more embarrassing (and entertaining) than taking a plea. he'll sell it as an offer he couldn't refuse, "the state has me by the balldo" etc etc. maybe he'll even repent and take accountability and attempt a redemption arc before making an even bigger ass of himself.

These comments caused me to reflect on the charges Nick is facing, the Internet, and two issues this thread has discussed.

- Will he plea out or fight the charges?
- Null's theory (which he later said was wrong but could still happen) is that Nick will throw Kayla under the bus.

Ultimately this is all about the child testing positive. If his online career is to continue, someone must take responsibility.

Nick knows this. The Internet would readily forgive an alcohol and coke addiction assuming he could be a good boy for a sustained period.

How does he extricate himself from the dark cloud of child neglect and dosing his kid through a plea or fighting it in court?

A plea: He gets the child neglect charge dismissed and pleads guilty to the drugs. This allows him to fire up a stream and declare "I was always a good father!!! I didn't do nuffin to the kid!!!"
The problem: The Internet, including many of his current fans, would still demand an explanation for the kid. Enter Kayla. She admits in her plea, or afterward on his stream, that she dosed the 9 yo. She's already said that she feels inadequate as a wife and mother. CPS may take notice of this scenario if the truth is otherwise but it's doubtful that they'd remove the kids again assuming the household is otherwise in order.

A trial: A similar path as the above with varying legal scenarios. I'm unclear if they would be tried together but Kayla can still testify that she dosed the kid.
The problem: More public shaming with the bodycam and the public spectacle. Anyway, the risk is too high. This is not going to happen.

A plea/chronology possibility: Kayla pleas out first and admits to dosing the kid. In Nick's plea, he gets child neglect dropped. To the Internet, he cites Kayla's plea admitting guilt about the kid.

You're right regarding the charges. Tbh, I am confused as to why additional charges were not added when the 9 yo tested positive unless it's a hidden threat. They can always add charges. The time to do so would be now.
