Warhammer 40k

Sorry if late. I'm coming back to 40k and minis gaming after a long hiatus so some stuff is still new to me.

Imperial Knights. Supposedly GW got a W from the Knights Christmas box, but now they've revealed they removed some important options and soured people on it. GW was always expensive, but when did they get dumb?

On the topic of Knights, I was listening to a lore video (knights weren't a thing when I played), and part way through the guy derails the video to talk about gender and going on some tangent about how female pilots could exist. I knew of the whole "female custodes/marines" drama, but I didn't know this spread to other factions.

Are knights and sentinels a okay value? While other kits are generally cheaper from third parties, sentinels RRP for £25, but similar proxies cost that or more. Even pre-printed minis are around that. Armigers and War Dogs are £55 for two, while pre-prints are about the same price wise. I could just be looking in the wrong places though.

It makes me wonder how similar in design the daemon primarch for fulgrim would be when you look at the current heresy offering. Magnus and Mortation are basically just larger versions of themselves and the only really different looking one is Angron.
I suppose they could lean even more into the serpent / reptilian aesthetic which would look pretty cool imo.
They’ll definitely switch it up so that you can’t use the Horus Heresy model. I haven’t looked at AoS but going by current trends they’ll use a lazy copy of some AoS model and call it a day.

My unpopular opinion: Leandros is actually pretty cool in SM2.
>Badass outfit
>Acts exactly like I imagined a Chaplin would
>Comes around at the end and suggests to Calgar that Titus come along (for Story DLC or SM3?)
It's the setup for a good 40k buddy/cop movie.

Is that unpopular? Or is it just redditors hating the guy because he didn't suck Titus off the entire time? And yeah. The ending is dlc bait. Pretty sure the devs have already expressed interest in doing a dlc continuation.

You’ll get a primarch, a captain, noise marines, terminators, and a set of cultists and that’ll be it
I miss the days when kitbashing was encouraged. When you got more than a handful of loadout options for HQ characters. When the Emperor's Children update would entail a Primarch, maybe a Captain, and a variety of upgrade sprues.

Here's what GW should do instead of trying to do a bunch of Emperor's Children standalone stuff like their own special terminator kits:

Nah they were there in the first episode(they're in the thumbnail). Although it seems they have fallen back into the same pattern...

The main series animations with a bunch of characters and needing more people to help doing voice work is the popular shit. While most of the other stuff they've produced over the past couple of years only gets half the views, while tyring to supplement the channel content with other things like playing a tabletop RPG, and they drastically slowed down production of the "main show" Hunter: The Parenting

Dec. 18, 2021 episode 1
Mar. 13, 2022 episode 2
May 13, 2022 episode 3
Mar. 9, 2024 episode 4
Mar. 19, 2024(this is just a censored version of the previous episode

Wow, it really is like they fell into the exact same fucking pattern they hit for emperor's TTS device with 6-24 month gaps between episodes. https://graphtreon.com/creator/alfabusa
I wonder what that big spike matches when they were already making 7 grand a month, but suddenly hit $20k a month on August 1st 2021. Oh right, July 29 was when they posted their "the fate of TTS" and whined about their income and GW, etc.

They don't want to do the actual work that is popular enough to get them the subscribers and views, because it's more work than everything else they to crap out. Same thing with the 40k book reviews, podcasts, ttrpg, etc. they tried but got a fraction of the views for.
Hunter is really mid and mostly based around reusing the characters of Text To Speech with a new coat of paint so it would be considered their own IP... Sounds familiar?

Issue is that while 40K has a lot of worldbuilding to have the characters work off from, Hunter meanwhile is JUST the characters inside the relatively mundane WoD world where you probably know most of the lore if you have any cursory interest in the Role Playing scene. So shit gets stale, especially as characters act more like CalArts version of their TTS counterparts.

It doesn't help that if Text to Speech took several years to reach critical point of faggotary "full year for an episode", Hunter started on that level, so it is hard to care, and the text only episodes are a fucking bore.

Basically if they just played some Hunter homebrew once a week it would have at least gain momentum.

I dont remember, but Im pretty sure that WhiteWolf is more sue happy than GW is if these clowns try to make merch. Cause, I recall them going after the Underworld movies for pretty much plagiarizing their shit. There was also claims them going after the Twilight saga chick, but I couldnt find any proof of that.

It doesn't matter because WhiteWolf is seen as the more player friendly company. GW will forever be considered the bad guy of the tabletop playing scene almost entirely due to them caring more about profits than catering to politics.

Modern White Wolf doesn't exist anymore. After the gay holocaust shit in vtm 5th, paradox basically dumped the entire team and then outsourced re-publishing the book(renegade Game Studios) .VTM Bloodlines 2 also recently had someone at Paradox in an interview claiming that even if blood lines 2 were a success at this point, they aren't going to bother with a third unless it's licensed out by another studio, that says they aren't even willing to blow smoke up investor asses at this point regarding bloodlines 2 and just want to be done with the shit. They also stopped bothering with the fan program they had running for content creators with the WoD watermark to put on the screen and shit a couple of years ago.

WoD has been nothing but a pain in the ass for Paradox, and they seemingly want nothing to do with it at this point other than to stop being a liability.

Also, there's a big difference between the TTS guys just literally copying GWs art and making it wiggle around the screen with maybe a different hat or something on it, and the actual art they had someone come up with for their hunter the parenting crap. The art btw, is fucking awful. It's not just cal arts versions of the characters.

Yeah, that was some point around episode 25 or so. And right after that was when they tried coming up with all of the filler shit that would get 10% of the views.

Basically if they just played some Hunter homebrew once a week it would have at least gain momentum.
Funny you say that, because apparently they decided to play Mage: The Ascension of all fucking things, released an episode of it a month ago, and haven't done shit since. This is after having done 2 hour solo sessions(4 of them) with the players 3 months ago, to handle the awakening part of the backstories and somehow roped Fredreick Knudsen into it? These guys do the opposite of building momentum for basically everything.

And this was after they got paid by Paradox to make that stellaris video almost 4 years ago.

And it's honestly kind of funny they're still seen as that, because they haven't really existed in 5-6 years. Renegade did finally get a Hunter and Werewolf 5th edition out in the past year but the WoD franchise at this point is so fucking dead I've only seen people mention that they exist, not actually talking about playing any of it(beyond the basic VTM stuff).

Because last I checked combat was gutted in VTM (turning into a rock-paper-scissors game) and Werewolf was huge a mess of a book. Hunter 5E is however a strange mix, it has combat, but removed the whole "Yer the chosen one" stuff and seemingly took a page from Hunter the Vigil. But then again, besides Vampire and Werewolf, other games in WoD were always a crapshoot in theirs of popularity (hello Wraith)

Fair enough, I tried watching one episode of Hunter, but quickly "noped" out of it.

You should probably blame the LARPers still hanging on from the late 90s and early 2000s for that. It's either dice cards, or rock paper scissors since you can't exactly just start rolling dice in the middle of a bunch of nerds all trying to play improv theater. I know there was an updated set of minds eye theater rules published a while back(I think 2012?) but that was tied to the VTM 20th anniversary edition, I think? There was some weird shit regarding publishing companies shuffling around because the damned Eve Online people of all things had bought the rights at some point.

That's all a direct result of gw losing the lawsuit. They pivoted away from anything being kit bashed over fear of copywrite and trademark issues. Same reason they nuked fantasy for sigmar.

Sort off, kind off, the VTM20th edition is basically an updated version of VTM..mm...3rd edition I think? An it's more the widely played one, as it had rules for combat, stats for various weapons and etc. VTM 5e is where they ditched all that and boiled it down to "power vs power", which nuked whatever reason to have any guns, since now it's like Pokemon "fire beats water" type shit.

AH ok I thought you meant literal rock paper scissors(since that has been a thing in VTM due to the LARPers). I haven't actually bothered looking into any of the 5e shit in detail to be honest, because I just cannot fathom myself playing like I'm still some 90s edgelord at this point(plus the fact that it seems like support is either going to just not exist, or continue to be a weird mess because it seems like the past decade of WoD has been failed corporate tard wrangling).

The biggest problem with 5E vamps, is that it playes like a 90's Edgelord shit, but it tries to be REALLY heavily into a political thriller bit. Which, ye that was thing with Vampire, but it had this balance between that and 90's edgelord stuff. 5E vampire just goes BALLS deep into that shit, sooo...hope you enjoy a SUPER heavy roleplay game asshole with Pokemon type combat.
Why the fuck? Mage is infamous for being strange shit to play.
I mean, could have been worse. They could have been trying to play Wraith, that shit wouldn't get passed by a 1st stage of playing with how fucking boring it is
