American media is controlled by the same tribe of like-minded people. All of those people running Hollywood could flood the airwaves with celebrities telling you that dogs are the most fuckable thing in the world. The people who are dumb today wouldn't suddenly become too intelligent for that trick tomorrow, and suddenly would see women fucking dogs rather than you. Even as a religious guy, I'm with the states having the choice on the matter. We tried national abortion laws. Everyone hated it. Now the states get to decide what is best for them. And if you live in a state and don't like the laws, you can move. You aren't locked in under national abortion laws going either way on abortion. There are 50 states, 50 choices on what's right for you.

South Dakota women have the highest rate of Republican identification in the country. Opinions on abortion in South Dakota are not heavily polarized between men and women.
I'm not sure what your solution is for "states like South Dakota being around." Expel them from the union? Kill their populations? Revert them to territory status?
The South Dakota abortion ban had exceptions for rape, incest, and life of the mother, same as all the others.

You're also just wrong about women voters. Trump made the GOP more moderate on abortion. Women voters just moved even further to the left in response. Women vote based on what's socially acceptable and who gives them "the ick."
Trump could promise every female voter free abortions for life, and Democrat women would still keep voting Democrat because having a border is mean.

2012 was when abortion being "safe, legal, and rare" went right out the window, and so many women voters fell off a fucking cliff down to lunacy. "Access to birth control and rare abortion" quickly became "Give me ALL the abortions and ALL the pills ON DEMAND and FOR FREE! REEEE! You have no say in my lady parts, but damn it, I want my lady parts to be subsidized!"
And the fact that THIS ad didn't creep out enough women back in the day says everything:

South Dakota, and every other state that bans abortion, will probably end up the same way over time -- enough people will complain and petition until the issue ends up on the ballot, and then the ballot measure will pass and restore the right to have an elective abortion for the first trimester. this is what every poll shows the vast majority of americans want. it will just take some time to get there
i guess i'm just optimistic and assume enough of them will get over it given some time. maybe JD Vance can distract the average woman long enough with his looks and some jingling car keys to have them break out of their icky feeling spiral
those same exit polls also show that the vast majority of women that vote for Trump are women with no higher education. and the number of women with degrees continues to grow, outpacing men with degrees. theoretically the number of eligible women voters for the current Republican party will just continue to shrink over time. however, the parties seem to be going through some changes right now so over time the parties will continue to shift to "normal people" vs "overeducated hysterical women and their pet minorities"
