Someone said they were gonna do a video essay on Qud's "queerness". I asked why. They gave some... poor examples that weren't actually LGBTQ stuff or weren't representative of the game as a whole, such as the pronoun thing (which doesn't impact the game at all), to which I ultimately boiled down their argument to "you just think it's queer because it's unusual?".
I made that retort on the toilet at work. When I was able to check back in (an hour or two later), I found I had been banned for not responding to a mod pinging me how my response was "a bad-faith argument".
So yeah, I lasted three days. This all happened around a week before 1.0 came out.
Saw some people say that one of the devs was busted for molesting their sister or niece or something, and then got fired from the project.

Nobody archived jack squat and the dev- chaosprime- DFE'd (though you can see all of his reddit posts here in case you need confirmation of him being a dev, as well as a whole thread of him bragging about what he added to the game) so it's very hard to find existing proof, but I found some screenshots scattered about and have some links to individual tweets. (I myself have no idea how to archive Twitter without Wayback or Archive fucking up the html and making it unreadable, so I'll just put normal links here for now, but please archive this if you can because there's barely any solid proof out there anymore.)
Initial "callout" thread, as far as I know. Do not try checking the profile for more clarification because the twitter addict in charge has sent 53k tweets in a 3-year span and 90% of it is AI-related slop. You will not be getting anything recent relating to a four-month-old accusation; just the owner bragging about how an AI estimated her IQ to be "extremely intelligent".

Judging from this screenshot from before he DFE'd, the "tweet from a deleted author" posts are probably from him.

I can't remember how I got this link originally but here's the Discord mod instruction manual for coping and seething, I'll properly archive it later(I had it saved on a tablet in an open tab but couldn't search my history for it; afraid I'll lose it again and want people to enjoy this insanity) but skim it and it should make your skin crawl. Read it in depth and you'll get a glimpse into the mind of a Batman villain that never got their super powers or henchmen.

Homos and trannies, I think. Sometime around its Steam release is when I recall hearing about it, but it may have crept in earlier. I haven't touched it in a very long time, I don't want to catch whatever brainrot seeped into that code.
I think it's possible to softly antagonize a part of the customer base you don't like if and only if you're able to keep yourself from going full retard. "Hey, we have no plans to change XYZ as that's completely contrary to our team's core values, but thanks for being paying customers anyway!" and then not going on an unhinged rant about le chuds could win you some goodwill if only for the honesty of it. But that would still require the parties involved not to be shit slinging turbofaggots.
Very, very cool game. There are one shot enemies… in a permadeath game. Where you are also supposed to enjoy the roleplaying elements. Very, very enjoyable. I’m sorry, I just don’t have the kind of autism necessary to enjoy this. I play video games to enjoy myself, to fucking relax and not think. This isn’t fun. It’s not fun to play for two hours only to die to one shot enemies. It’s not fun that the starting dungeon under the starting are has one shot enemies. It’s not fun to design a new character only to have him die 5 minutes later.

every starting village should have at least one trader hanging about otherwise you could try trading with the villages warden. other otherwise you might have to beat up some gunner kobolds

Bit late but I honestly don't understand how someone can write any of this without dying of cringe. There is no reason a discord ever needs a "Onboarding" process, the only reason you have a onboarding process is either because you are hosting shit that could get you in legal trouble or because you fantasize about being a NKVD officer. Just have rules and be extremely liberal with the ban hammer, that's why less embarrassing than having a entire operations manual on how to allow people into the cult.
this game is really seriously hot fucking garbage. Of the five hours i spent with it, half has been making new characters. Do you know whats better than exploring the starting area the first time? the second and third and fourth and fifth and sixth time you get to do it! Wow, i just love looting and collecting the same quests over and over and over! Stimulating gameplay!
now did i die? turned a corner and a machine gun turret ended me in one shot. i attempted to steal something and the whole town ganged up on me because there is no detection ai and its based on radius. the starting dungeon under the starting area? filled with way too many one shot enemies. build a gunslinger? goodluck! theres no ammo!

do not be fooled! the webpage CLAIMS that there is simulation going on. In five hours of playing the game i can tell you FOR A FACT THAT THERE IS NO SIMULATION, THE GAME IS ENTIRELY SCRIPTED. THIS IS A LIE. It is totally a lie. Just wrong. I cant believe they get away with it.

So in 4 years they stripped the freedom out of the game and replaced it with a pseudo sandbox? The Ssetth video made it look fun with all the crazy ways you could break the game.

The only way I can think of something like this could work if the story progression was independent of the character you were playing. It would be a challenge to write, but the story could essentially be as long as it needs to be without permadeath bringing it down.
This is not a videogame. Its somebodies personal idiosyncratic autism project that is really more a representation of its developer ather than an experience for the user. Im not enjoying it because im not the same kind of person that the developer is.
Its actually not a super deep roleplaying system, but at the same time theres enough that its a pain in the ass to set up new characters over and over .
Also, there is no simulation. I came from dwarf fortress and i guess that set my expectations. That and the webpage claiming "deep simulation". There is none, its all scripted. The pseudo randomly generating areas dont count either.
