Hurricane Milton

Shout out to Duke Energy for beating the Tuesday estimate, my power and internet just came up. Time for some rest and relaxation.
Don't know how many Nova Scotia sent down, but they are super fast. I think the lonest we've been out of power was half a day at most. Of course we're a tiny province, but hopefully they can help speed up getting power to everyone nice and fast.

Was passing through Orange County on the way home to my potato nigger island and ended up stuck in Orlando for 4 days. Luckily the worst horrors I faced were Bri'ish People and Adult Disney Fans. Did get speaking to a nice chap from North Carolina who was trying to make sure people had enough fuel to get through the worst of it. He really didn't have a good word to say about FEMA. Hope all our Florida Men and Women made it through safely.

We were without power for a couple of days and the trailer across the lane had a fingerling palm pushed down. That was it. Street didn't even flood thank the lord.

What is the deal with the gas? Not fix people's electricity that run gens? I swear it's social experiment.

🌈 Did any of the birdies make it out?
One of the storm chasers, I believe on Ryan Hall's channel, mentioned seeing lots of birds as the hurricane came ashore. Migration maps were showing birds had been pushed west after Helene, which probably set a lot of them up to get caught inside Milton as it formed. Once the winds reach a certain speed in rotation, it's just too difficult for them to escape, but I would wager a lot of them made it out okay.

Sooty terns, which are native to the Caribbean, were deposited as far north as Indiana after Helene. Something like 100 flamingos were swept up in Idalia and found in places like Pennsylvania, Kansas, and Wisconsin, iirc. A bunch of them landed in Florida and stayed there (which is great because they were poached to near extinction in FL). A bird's ability to ride a storm is wildly impressive, imo.

The ones who survive the ride will usually either continue their travels, adapt to the local environment if it's favorable, or die if it isn't and no human intervention takes place.

Finally got my power back and I'm bringing content to this thread because this is the funniest thing I've heard listening to the radio during my ~week without power.

This morning I was listening to a radio show, they were taking callers and stories about the hurricane and talking about places to find gas and shit (thankfully they have a YouTube mirror so I could actually find this again). This one guy called in, and well, I think this speaks for itself.

48:33 to the end.

For maximum effect, open the spoiler below right after hearing the 51:36 timestamp.

I doubt he'll actually come forwards and talk with the guy, i bet he'll just go get a new domain or whatever.
