Is "playing videogames" even a real hobby?
Anything is a hobby, just don't make it your primary hobby. You literally sit on a chair for hours on end because of it.
/gig/ is probably the worst culprit. The general has devolved into a bunch of pagpag schizos spamming gay porn, scat, and monkey torture videos 24/7 because they are still seething over male characters released several years ago. To make matters worse, the shitposting and lack of moderation has gotten so bad that it has attracted the attention of /dbs/ posters, who have made /gig/ their unofficial home on /vg/ and shit up the thread even further. It's gotten to the extent that Genshin players have to go to /v/ of all places to have on-topic discussion about the game. (Assuming ABIB doesn't find out and delete the thread because he's a giant niggerfaggot.)
Ah yes so /dbs/ ruins another series of threads.

Many video games are just "choose your own adventure" books in interactive video form. Some of the modern games I've seen are little more that a bunch of cutscenes interspersed with occasional button pressing. I don't play modern video games much at all, or pay attention to video game industry drama, but I remember awhile back when people were complaining about too many games being "walking simulators."

I mostly just play old FPSes and horror games. I'm a boomer who's more interested in playing Doom mods than the latest CoD or whatever. The last "modern" game I played a lot was Halo: Reach, if that's any indication. The only kind of recent games I check out are "indie" games like Hotline Miami and Ion Fury.

Games aren't a hobby. They're a way to pass the time, like watching movies, just less passive.

Guess what I happened to see again!
A Twitter screencap thread being acreencapped to be it's own thread on here is fucking grim.

Also saying that 20% of /pol/ threads are quality is a vast overestimation, maybe 1 thread per day is "quality" now. It's all jeets and astroturfing shills regurgitating dead and stale board culture from 2016, there hasn't been anything new or good on /pol/ in years.

I went on some random thread on /b/ to test it and yeah it seems like the filter has been removed:

For reference, I tried doing the same thing when people first found out about the filter and my post wouldn’t go through.
I wonder if they'll ever get rid of the filter on tbh and fam, meme words which haven't been relevant in almost a decade now. I think this filter staying in place is a good proof of stagnation.

This will do nothing against dedicated no-life spammers
If only those retards left the "posters in thread" count this might not be as much of an issue. But then shills would have a harder time so we can't have that.

The IP counter did not prevent or alleviate insane mentally ill spammers at any point past double digit IPs, the only times it was actively useful was when obvious shills without the knowledge of it existing would just make a thread and bump it on their own or when the IP count to Post count was nearly 1:1. 20 Posts with 1 IP screencaps were a worthwhile giggle.
But even that lasted for no time at all because bumping your own thread without any other unique IPs resulted in it just not getting moved up in the page listings, and as such even the most mentally challenged advertisers and loons learned that they should just shuffle IPs per every post or two.

Past that little tidbit, it really just was used as a tool to shitpost between threads or generals on who has the "highest poster count", otherwise it was just fuel for schizophrenical NOOTICING. Big IP count? Unnatural, too many people here, this is an X raid! Small IP count? Unnatural, the same people from X trying to push their forced topic by samefagging! You posted more than once in a thread? You are the mysterious samefag boogeyman as X! New IP? Ban Avoiding or samefag on their phone! Regular IP count? LOL DEAD THREAD ONLY <arbitrary number> IPs!

/vg/ has been a hotbed of pure unbridled schizophrenia and unironic mental illness ever since its inception, intentionally made to contain Leagueshitters and Katawa Shoujo fags from /v/ and /a/ respectively. It really has gotten worse ever since /mobage/ exploded and created 20 splinter chinky anime gacha game generals, each with their own resident schizophrenic shitposters, which then attracted boatloads of brown thirdies and unironic chinese people on the board. There's also the FFXIV contingent trying to shill their shitty ERP guilds in other threads, CSAM shit, and gore spam. It's literally one of the worst boards on 4chan.
Between this and what someone lists above with SS13G, WTF causes that board to attract so many schizos? Not just on there but in general 4chan feels like it's seen an increase in literal schizo-ry the past year or two, I know it's a meme to call everything schizo but these people have actual weird obsessions and seemingly endless time in the day to just shit up a fucking website with barely anyone on round the clock.

Who are these people in real life? They seem like they'd be beyond any outdated "virgin in their moms basement" meme, people with mental illnesses irl are usually either autists being taken to a daycenter, or a brainfried methhead, neither of which seem like they're capable of the constant, enduring, digital temper tantrums the retards on 4chan now manage by spamming the same images and arguments with people they accuse of being other schizos they have drama with. What sort of a person has the time and energy for that, the slight "intelligence" required to use a keyboard and find 4chan without going full retard, and decides it's all they want to do? Just spamming AI images having arguments with imaginary people? For some momentary recognition of your otherwise empty existence and feeling smart or "big" or what?? (Obviously I'm not a psychologist here but still)

And you can't even complain about it on 4chan now without getting a 3 day ban, hence coming here for this, but they seemingly go unbanned being off-topic spamming retards 24/7 because they didn't try to advertise a dogecoin without paying so it isn't "spam". (E.g's off the top of my head are vidya butts guy, that final fantasy guy, whatever that schizo with breath of the wild is, the minotaurs-in-oblivion guy, and the irrelevant coomer spam sitewide.)

I was under the impression that /vp/ had the most dedicated schizo ban evaders. But I guess it makes a certain amount of sense for it to be /vg/.

This kind of person has been around on the internet since the 2000s. They have an attitude of "my way or the high way". What we consider endless spam, they consider to be high-quality, on-topic posting because their obsessions are what they think the board/general should be about. It's kind of like what Lee did.

Some of it is severe autism that looks schizophric, which is a thing, but slow boards have always had waves of legitimate schizos that stand out. /ic/ was especially bad, /mu/ and /x/ were also loaded with them. It used to get moderated away, but not so much now.

But what you describe is malicious autists and bots, for the most part. Check out the guitar general schizo on /mu/ for a decade long campaign to destroy a general, he also shits up the metal thread and makes the gusic posts.

I have 100 posts because I keep getting banned and posts deleted from getting shitfaced on colgate mouthwash or Mezcal and posting the wrong posts in the incorrect thread. I have been kicked out of the secret board for that like 5 or 6 times. For not meeting the minimum criteria (yes you can get kicked from there).
In fact I am shitfaced right now celebrating the /mlp/ anniversary in cytube.
cheers, for the average 4chan poster.
I think this is the last day of the /mlp/ anniversary @ cytube.
Cheers, for another 14 years of manchilding.

I got a two week ban for banned text. I tried to link to a KF thread. Can somebody check if linking to kiwifarms.st is actually an instant two week ban? There's no way 4chan has fallen that far.

I have a hard time believing the troonigger jannies running the site now would be so bold.
I can confirm (I did on /int/ FWIW). ggheghseh.png
I tried linking directly to the farms and got an error message saying that my post contains banned text. I tried again with a space after kiwi, so "kiwi farms", after which I received the error that I was banned.
Pretty sure it's been banned text for years.
Yes, but up until very recently you'd just get an error saying that your post is "spam", like when you try to link to facebook. No ban.
I can't even post kiwifarms links there, it won't let me. Same with archive.is links, which tells you all you need to know about the site.
I do know that we trigger cuckchanners like no tomorrow, and there is quite a few newfags there who do actually think that even talking about the site or claiming you're from there by itself is a ban worthy offense. Not much more to be said here, the only people who rage this much about the farms are those who are likely to have threads about them made here or already have them, speaks volumes that the whole site's population now fits this criteria.
archive.is still works on /pol/ for me. What board did you try it on? And are you sure you didn't write "archive.ph"? Because .ph is banned.

Something weird happened today. I was trying to post the "Does he know?" meme image on /tv/ to some anon but the post wasn't going through, I was getting all kinds of connection errors. So I deleted the image and tried posting "test" which is common to see. Minutes after, the post gets deleted and I'm globally banned. I check the 4plebs archive and turns out mods have been indiscriminately deleting almost all "test" posts for some days, although it looks like a manual process ???? The site is becoming unusable with so many unexplained posting rules ala Lainchan

Screenshot from 2024-10-14 17-27-15.png

The ban I got for simply posting "test". Observe there's no offending post linked to it like it usually happens... just figure out your crime on your own, anon. Simply Kafkaesque.
