That's not even exclusively a Japan thing, it's a work visa in general thing. Why would they spend money and resources sponsoring and importing some unskilled retard who could easily end up quitting or fired within 6 months?

Yeah but I'm just talking about stupid weebs that say, "when I graduate I'm heading to Japan to work as a manga artist" and bullshit like that. There's this... idea in their heads that Japan is somehow this fantasy land and they'll land there, get a job without a problem and make tons of money because they love anime and manga and that's what they base their life in Japan as being.

It's actually fun to tell them that it's not happening and what they'd need to actually make it in Japan. Saying "pretty please" really isn't going to work as their immigration system over there is very tough.

This is why I WANT Chibi to go. I want to see the veil cast from his eyes and see Japan in all it's real life glory and not the rose tinted fantasy he's created in his mind.

I want him to live in a Guest House where he'll annoy everybody to death. Where he'll walk around in his Miles Edgeworth cosplay. Where he'll make takoyaki every day and try to speak Japanese to everybody. I want to see him get out of the honeymoon phase and really understand that Japan is just another country like all others.

If he quits that job he is likely looking at moving back in with his mom. Nightmare.

Nightmare for her. She got rid of him and now he's back going Bing Bing Wahoo! at 3am.

If it's his Gran on his mother's side I'd imagine she's somewhat religious like her daughter, which to him means she's evil and brainwashed and he wants nothing to do with her.

On the other side of things, she might be fine and his brother & gf might be fed up with him and/or want to go looking for a place just for themselves, so have gone to grans an interim instead of suffer more.

If that is the case it really speaks to how insufferable Chibi is to live with that his brother would rather go live with a pensioner in some musty old house than a condo in a relatively convenient area.

English schools in Japan have such a bad reputation and the turnover is pretty high meaning a lot of people there quit after a year or so. It takes a special kind of drive to keep doing it year after year.

Not even a year. A lot of people can't last more than 6 months when they start out. It's the isolation of living outside their home and the fact management typically treats you like garbage. The companies that hire teachers that don't have prior experience are expecting 20%-40% to quit between the first 6 months so they don't get attached to you. These are your shopping mall schools and the Japanese ones are the worst I've heard of and prey on weak people with no self respect and just want to go to Japan no matter what.

I don’t know how he still keeps this job when he constantly insults his boss and customers and posts about looking for different job opportunities openly and regularly on Facebook.
