As far as soft drugs go (Weed, LSD, shrooms) I think that medicinal should be legal while recreational should be illegal in a "lenient" way. Enough to maintain a certain level of taboo regarding drugs, but not so harsh that it's something that would ruin the life of an experimenting college kid.

There's also some humorous stereotyping going on to focus on weed as the prime industry to grow for the ostensive purpose of employing black men.

The narrative I consistently hear when recreational marijuana becomes legal in urban cities or areas such as Detroit is that it's a supposed way to make right the wrong black people faced by being convicted of possessing, buying, smoking, etc. marijuana in the past before it was legalized. This is also a reason cited when the same places require a certain number of pot shops to be black-owned/operated.

As stated by @Alter Ego, selling it in these areas gives credence to the stereotype that black people just can't go without smoking a doobie on the regular.

However, the end result of legalization is not sliding towards the idea that everything is okay and there are no negative consequences (as it was sold to the country).

A similar thing happened here. Legalizing marijuana would create jobs and the resulting taxes would better fund schools, help fix the roads, and do all sorts of good. Spoiler: If it's happening in my part of Kiwi Land, it's happening on a much smaller scale than envisioned.

As it stands, the newspaper had a series of articles on how the area market is over saturated and the price per ounce has plummeted. With pot shops prevented by federal law from filing for bankruptcy, the two main options for those going under are to find another bigger shop to take them over or find a shop that is willing to pay off as much of the debt as possible and liquidate the remaining assets and inventory.

The fact Harris thinks more pot shops is an answer when several existing ones can barely stay open shows how flawed her platform is when digging deeper.

if it was legal to study weed for medicine then the active ingredients would be extracted, pressed into a pill, and prescribed out in exact quantities by doctors. medical weed would be unnecessary and people who smoke weed would be seen as even bigger losers than they are now because they would lose their medical excuse. this is the catch 22 of every stoner's utopia where weed has no restrictions

this is also yet another issue where if politicians made reasonable laws that most people agreed with it would be one less way they could scare people into voting for their party. as long as weed is federally classified as Schedule 1 it's a perfect vote and donation machine similar to how abortion was for decades. a way for politicians to eternally promise that if only they get just a few more house or senate seats they'll definitely fix all your problems this time

Say you're an independent voter, you don't participate in politics that much, you don't talk about it to your family, you're not registered with any party, the most you do is every 4 years you go and vote for whatever politician you feel is the most comfortable for you.

In other words, a pure moderate.

It's 2024, you are now given the two choices as to who you think should be president.

First choice, Harris, she is boring and milquetoast, all of her views are the bog-standard center-left Democrat talking points of the past 20 years, but she's safe and unassuming.

Then you see your second choice, Trump, and all you hear from him is THE HAITIANS ARE EATING THE DOGS, THE LEFT WANTS TO INDOCTRINATE YOUR KIDS WITH LGBT PROPAGANDA, and MIGRANTS ARE INVADING AMERICA (reasonable point btw),

Trump's talking points are inherently further to the right and is made to appeal with staunch conservatives first, and centrists second, while Harris is more comfortable for the politically unaffiliated.

That's why Trump is on a disadvantage versus Harris in a presidential election.

This is why I think you're just trolling. Kamala is the most unenthusiastic candidate in most peoples lifetime. Her views are FAR more left then bog-standard, even though that standard has shifted DRAMATICALLY to the left since Billy Clinton.
