Hemp and marijuana are different varietals of cannabis sativa. Hemp contains virtually no THC, whereas marijuana contains a great deal, which means it can't be transported across state lines without falling foul of federal drug classification laws. High-thc-content cannabis is what the states have legalised for individual consumption, rather than mere hemp, which was legal as a fibre product for decades. The fact that marijuana is federally illegal also means banks are unwilling to provide services and will randomly withdraw them, and insurers are often refuse coverage due to the potential for criminal involvement.

Hence why the only people who can reliably profit from it under the current legal regime are still criminals, because anyone else risks federal charges and debanking. It's a retarded half- measure situation that only benefits criminals and creates uncertainty for everyone else. From my outside perspective, the only viable solution is to either repeal the federal restrictions, leaving it up to the states entirely, or implement a single federal statute that overrides state legalisation. The latter is a return to the status quo ante, which would allow proper enforcement against criminal growers within the us, while the former removes the liabilities that give those criminal growers a niche.

I doubt any us politician will want to tackle this, though. They benefit more from having a bunch of potential criminals roaming around than from actually solving problems.

We live in a society where you can go get addicted to cheap chinkshit fentanyl then go get diagnosed with a SUD and automatically get protection under the ADA, Medicaid coverage including expanded dental coverage in some areas, free prescribed Suboxone that you can then either take or sell to druggies for spare cash, qualify for lifeline phones and HUD and SNAP and all kinds of other shit just based on having an opioid problem, all paid for by tax dollars, and you faggots are really in here whining about weed being some horrible socioeconomic scourge of the landscape?

Congress getting suckered by potheads into legalizing, and then nobody noticing, is general political, funny as hell, and sad as fuck that the Congress, and media were so distracted by Orange Man Badding they let legalization happen.

And don't get me started on teetotal Trump passing weed legalization, I almost died laughing the last time I thought too deeply about it.

The last two detoxes I did, they put me on a fuckton of anti-seizure drugs because my pre-peak withdrawal symptoms were so bad. Alcohol withdrawal is no joke and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Death is preferable to suffering that. As you say, benzos have the same danger because they are both GABA agonists - my favorite kind of agonists.

I hope that guy is okay. Some people simply don't know the dangers of quitting alcohol cold turkey.
