This would be like if Greece invaded Turkey to try and reclaim Anatolia. When far-right Christians talk about "retaking Constantinople" people laugh at them because it ignores centuries of intervening circumstances. Even if that did happen, you wouldn't be setting the clock back to 1452. Instead you'd have something entirely new and different. You wouldn't be bringing back the Byzantine Empire by doing that, you'd be playing fancy dress.Jews have an indigenous claim of the land. Palestinians have a native claim of the land.
Jews lived as an inseparable entity from the land in ancient times, and were dispersed to the diaspora around 2000 years ago. Since then it has been part of Jewish tradition, lore, and even day-to-day religious practices to keep Jerusalem on top of mind. There has always been some presence of Jews in the land, and archeological evidence definitely supports that Jews have been present there since around 3500 BC, with their culture and religion staying mostly the same, making them one of the only ancient cultures to survive to this day.
The only other country that acts like this is Macedonia, and again, people laugh at them for it. They see a bunch of Slavs speaking a dialect of Bulgarian building statues of Alexander the Great while spitting venom at Greeks who have a far more substantive historical connection to the people they're cosplaying as and they're a regional joke because of it. But it's kept as ridicule instead of turning to violence because at least the "Macedonians" don't have the cheek to try and invade Greece and displace ethnic Greeks from their own land over it.
