I doubt the genuine nature of such an epiphany. It also exposed his deep seated insecurity and need for external validation and approval. That act of 'fuck off from my channel it you don't like it' was a bluff. He never expected people to actually do it, and his world collapsed as fans and 'friends' stopped showing up to his streams. He ended up isolated and alone doing drugs. I'd believe that this is what drove him to do so much cocaine.

His non-apology was something like, 'Sexuality interests me and I explored the topic but some people [said defensively] in this community didn't like it. It may have gone too far.' I don't recall it being clipped; I believe he said this after the MANdy revelations.

See above, this was still in his phase of false bravado. He really did care what people thought and mourned the loss of attention, deference, and respect shown to him.

I'd not be too sure. The story from Balldowashers and Balldocritics alike in the wake of his arrest was 'Nick retreated and stopped talking to everyone' in the months before.

I sincerely don't want him to die or go to prison. I'd like to see him get better, and part of that includes accountability. I save the "I hope they die" list for serious stuff.

Other than watching him nosedive on screen, I wasn't privy to any special information. I had no idea he was riding the white stallion and neglecting his kids. I just figured he was a dumbfuck lush who liked watching his wife get railed.

I'm mostly just unsure how you could be exposed to so much and not react sooner unless, much like you peers, you were leveraging your connection to Nick to help your endeavors on YouTube. Also, Nick was pretty disingenuous so maybe it was hard to tell when he was serious or joking when you were on a stream with him (and Kayla). Perils of the grift mayhap.

Nick was actively selling himself as the man with the Midas touch and promoting the idea that associating with him would benefit people who wanted to grow their own online audience. At the time, it was substantially true and it's not that different to other forms of networking for your own advancement.

Drugs like cocaine simulate the same brain functions that reward you with dopamine for doing things that get social approval. This is probably why it almost always increases someone's asshole behavior because they're getting a simulation of social rewards from a drug so have less motivation to seek approval from others.

It would make sense for him to spiral when he was no longer getting normal social attention.

It's a very lolcow trait to be desperate for positive attention, do absolutely stupid shit that ensures you get none of it, or negative attention, then double down on it like a complete retard. And that's where Nick's at now.
