I contend, though, that 2012's Obama vs. Romney might actually be the narrowest difference between policy of candidates we've had, at least post-Nixon. I interpreted your post to mean that the political betting markets are themselves are setting odds like sports books do. I disagree with the idea that these can be "skewed" since someone has to be the counterparty to the contract. If some whale is Bossmanjacking it on bets like Trump 90% and actually getting matched then obviously someone else thinks that the other side is a good deal. In an earlier post on this topic I noted that PredictIt has limits on the number of participants in a contract and their bet sizes. This makes their market inefficient and causes a decoupling of their prices with the other markets.

You are right, there is someone on the other side. The other people are happy to take some whale's 0.3 bet on Trump winning.
The truth is that people are idiots. Betters are especially stupid, which is why casinos make a lot of money. Whales (people who bet and lose lots of money) are even stupider than anyone.

Using betting markets as an indicator is silly.
