It's really upsetting to me how many people listen to this charlatan and trust what he has to say because "muh 20 years bro". Programming isn't some arcane discipline that requires decades of experience to truly grasp and form nuanced opinions around. Experience certainly helps, but I am confident in my ability to explain my reasoning well enough to people with little understanding of the subject matter. If this guy can't or won't bother justifying anything he has to say beyond hand-waving and credentialism, that's a tacit admission that he's a horrible teacher and he shouldn't be listened to for any purpose beyond mockery.

Good educational resources and good teachers are essential, and they do exist—the tragic part is that they don't garner they same level of attention as this retard and those like him. The fact of the matter is the good teachers are too busy doing actual technical work and making things of actual value to plaster themselves everywhere online like good ol' Jason does.

I’d say less too busy and more they just don’t know how to do online content effectively. I’ve noticed this for years. And that’s because for the longest time putting stuff up online for teachers was an afterthought. They are about 5-10 years behind. Which alliws people like Thor to gobble everyone up.

The best thing Thor ever did was put together that page on free game making resources about a year back.

My Statistics Professor when I was going for my B.S; first day of class she opened with "Welcome to Statistics, where you learn to lie to people mathematically." Along with the lessons of how to get a proper sample size and other stuff, she was adamant about how to lie, deceive, or manipulate people when presenting data. She swore up and down that visual representations can turn people into idiots; mainly with bar graphs showing growth potential. To keep it simple, let's say the shorter bar on the left is 7.0% and the bar on the right that requires a different company plan is only 7.2%; you put a massive fucking gap between the 7.0% and 7.2% to make that extra 0.2% seem like an astronomical benefit. You put it on paper, you can argue it's only 0.2%, but if you put a visual representation to it, you can decide how to display it, and manipulate people to go along with the one you want; and it's up to us, as learned people, to not be deceived.

I wouldn't be shocked if he figured this out or somehow knows it and uses it as a strategy; whether they truly understand what's going on or not, you put something visual in front of people and they go along with it. It is part of being personal, charismatic, the gift of gab, social engineering, etc; knowing how people work.
