Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Still think that Padme being six years older than Anakin and knowing him as a kid will never not be weird

I remember when TPM came out. I thought it odd that was where the story was going because little Ani was very much a child, especially seeing as I was around Natalie Portman's age and she's cute.

I know there's debate about whether they should have had him as a kid. Jumped into him older. The need for the innocent child who would later get corrupted. It'd probably be less of an issue if he was just a little bit older. Better for seeds of him having a crush. Better for him being an engineer, mechanic, race car driver and fighter pilot.

In ATOCs, the actors were a similar age and I think you are aware but just kind of ignore it. She knew someone for a few weeks a decade ago. Then he comes back as a hot dude with his sabre swinging.

I don't really find it that weird. You can't really call it grooming or anything because she never touched him when he was 8 and they only got to know each other.
Yep. They only started to find interest in each other a good while later and actually talking to each other due to Anakin being on guard duty for her. It's not that weird.

I do however recall Lucas seems to have a fetish for that sort of relation though; he has a big habit of noticeable age gaps for whatever reason. His most egregious being Indy with Marion coming to mind.

Context on that?

Well, I said that the only way to fix A.C Shadows would be to redo the whole freaking thing, this time sticking closer to the original treatment they had (according to an ex writer, the original version featured an actual japanese assassin and his design was actually pretty cool. There was no nigger samurai or female ninja. You can find it if you look it up).

Problem is, it cant happen even if they wanted to (Im sure they dont) because the game has to come out, contractually speaking. If they pull the plug now, Im very sure there will heavy penalties and its not like delaying it again will save it since its far too late into production and there is no way they can start a whole game from scratch in such a small time.

Either way, Ubisoft is fucked, this game has to come out and they deep down know it will be a flop (and they are REALLY needing money right now, to the point many believe they were riding on this game being a hit...delusional, I know) and this, Outlaws financially underperforming and their stocks dropping are a bad omen in the future that will probably end with Tescent buying them out.

Not to toot my own horn but I did pretty much spelled out the whole situation with Tescent and the video game industry atm in the Ubisoft thread..

Tescent really seems to have figured out this whole capitalism thing.

1- fund an organization that will culturally corrupt and devalue the products of any company that is dumb enough to go along with their "progressive" non-sense
2- The short sighted corrupt leaders of the companies will just keep tanking losses because its not like its their money.
3- Have them constantly defend and insist on the progressive non-sense
4- The stocks predictably fall
5- Begin to sell your own games without the woke non-sense so the betrayed audieces and their money drift towards you
6- Buy the company at cheap. The leaders dont give a shit because they all get golden parachutes, the little guy can get fucked.
7- Repeat until you dominated all of western companies

If I had no moral bone in my body, I'd do the same.

What was the age difference between Indy and Marion? I thought they were a similar age, am I missing something?

Oh gotcha. I thought there was some sort of rights issues.

It seemed implied that she was a high schooler 17-18 if I had to guess while Indy was a student if her father's possiby in graduate school. 23-4?

"The script states that Marion's age in Raiders is 25 years old, making her around 15 at the time of the affair with a 27-year-old Indy. With the release of Indiana Jones: The Ultimate Guide in 2008, this was changed when Marion's birthyear was revealed to be 1909, making her age about 27 at the time of Raiders instead." (And 17 when she and Indy started bonin' at the dig site)

That, and it was Anakin who macked on Padme. First with the "are you an angel?" line in EP1, then full-on flirting in EP2. If Anakin never expressed interest on Padme, there's a good chance she'd have remained celibate and married to her work.

Does anyone remember a female Senator character that was supposed to be AOTC in the early stages but ended up being dropped? I think she was supposed to be secretly bad and might have appeared briefly in one of the prequel novels of that time. And no, I'm not confusing her with Viqi Shesh. I asked Chat GPT and it gave me some nonsense about Bai Ling being cut from ROTS.

stumbled across this video from a small youtuber about the Disney approach to lightsaber/duels i thought was pretty good

I don't even need to watch the video, it's the same problem we all know about: Disney does not care about choreography. They let the actors practice with the toy swords but even in those videos you can visually see that there is no "fighting style" they just swing them around like blunt objects.

Also, they seem to think that being cut with sword made of hot plasma would "only" give you a little cut and not annihilate your insides.

he also brought up a point that i never noticed before but they act like the lightsabers are these heavy battle axes that takes a lot of effort to swing around which doesn't make any fucking sense seeing as though they've never been depicted like that before Disney and they're literally just a metal hilt and a laser. lol

George Lucas at one point in the past did say he envisioned lightsabers as being very heavy, one of the things he disagreed with the Expanded Universe on because the books established that lightsabers are very light to a disorienting degree if you aren't used to using them. Lucas' idea that the lightsabers should be heavy doesn't seem to add up with the saber duels in the prequel films he directed though. If I can find a clip of George saying this I'll post it.

I think he said it's supposed to be 40 lbs, which is about 2/3 the weight of a small child concentrated into an object the size of a dumbbell. Which doesn't even line up with the first movie with Luke waving it around all over the place.

He said this but he also changed his mind regarding it. He says the opposite in one of the behind the scenes clips for either Episode II or III.

Lightsabers seem to go from being somewhat heavy in the original trilogy to being relatively weightless in the prequels. Compare the Luke vs Vader duel in The Empire Strikes Back to Anakin vs Obi-Wan in Revenge of the Sith. It went from being somewhat stiff to a flurry of attacks in a matter of seconds.

The Disney sequel lightsaber fights have some sense of heaviness in the weapons used but the choreography either isn't all that memorable or just isn't good.

A lot of it comes from Daisy Ridley herself. Like a lot of other things in TFA, it could be hand-waved, but by TLJ and especially TRoS, her form should be superb and it isn't at all. Star Wars actresses don't spend enough time practicing, so they look sloppy when fighting.
