Is it a false equivalency to compare the two games to the woke ones? Probably. But I think it does highlight that DEI-Detected and other anti-woke curator groups and followings don't really have much power in convincing people to buy a game so much as (debatably) convincing folks to go into opposition mode against a game.

Abathor doesn't look bad, it just doesn't interest me much. DEI free isn't a feature that stands out, it's the bare minimum.

I suppose that's one of the few benefits of the shift to digital marketplaces. Don't need to clear shelf space when you can let shit games drift to the bottom and it costs you nothing to leave them there.

I would say something like "Give 15 a try" but considering how the DLC that was supposed to complete the story got canceled in order to make room for Forspoken (not even joking here but you can laugh anyway), I cannot in good consciousness recommend it.

My favourite part of carving out plot points for DLC in FF15 was how, if you play the base game not knowing that, the big twist of the DLC for the blonde twink (not the chef) gets spoiled any way lmao.

FF15 deserves a full-length documentary detailing what a catastrofuck that project was. For everything else bad I have to say about it, at least FF16 was functional and made sense.

point is you buy a shiny new GPU you have something to stress it with and show off, less about selling off trash - it will just affect the licensing price.

In the case of FO76 I'm pretty sure they were bundling it with a controller, so it had nothing to do with free software to benchmark anything; they just wanted rid of their dogshit game.

Eh I checked out The Great Rebellion(apparently Germany banned it?) quickly, it's a 16 dollar game with seemingly positive reviews. But probably nothing special as just another side scrolling rouge-lite title. More amusingly is that the people that made it have a second game, well first I think, that is a free to download sidescrolling platformer... which Vice put out an article about titled A German Far-Right Group Is Trying to Recruit Kids with a Free Video Game. Which they feature on the front page of their website.

Slightly more on topic it's absolutely a false equivalency to compare them. One's made by some random inie dev(4 people), the others are put out by AAA studios with decades of history or an established(first releast 2014) Norwegian developer that is repeatedly funded by the state government. Most indie games don't do well and have lower player counts they also have tiny dev times and budgets and nobody cares if some random indie game is infested with ideology, left or right, and fails because most will fail and it's not about ideology. Big dev games are a different story they have fans invested in the IP's, and platforms everyone sees to spout say wildly retarded things from and actually be noticed. I also don't think that DEI detected is trying to sway peoples opinion, it's just there for people who already have their opinion on not wanting DEI slop.

One thing I find interesting is that the opposite effect is applicable when it's a left-wing gaming rag is shitting on a game. Hatred is the most well known example, the game got way more publicity and sales than what a game like that deserved. I've played it and it's enjoyable for a few hours but it's mid at best, the only thing going for it is the physics system allowing you to create routes by shooting out any walls and doors etc. but it's otherwise unremarkable. Not to mention the devs went for the 200IQ choice of making the SECOND LEVEL a sewer level.

There are two unrelated claims. Kids don't want traditional toys any more as the biggest selling toy of the last few years was the iPad. The biggest audience for toys these days are adults, not children. When put back to back, the flaws with these claims are obvious.

A similar thing with novels. I'm not a book guys, so I could be wrong here. When the popularity of "YA" novels far outstripped regular novels, it was held up as an example of our doomed soy-ciety. However, every novel intended for adults has to be either a murder mystery or some political slop. Those who want a fun action adventure story have to go YA, and that was pre-covid, I imagine it's only gotten worse since then.

All this is to say, at some point I wonder if animation and indie film have such a bad reputation that putting those in the form of a "game" is the only way for it to socially acceptable, like those weirdos who watch "live action" remakes of disney classics that are 99% cg. "Just watch the orginals." "No, cartoons are for kids."

The DEI Detected recommended games always came across as strange. I've never heard of these games, and have no idea why they're recommended. Black Myth Wukong is the only one that makes sense, due to publically refusing to pay SBI protection money and getting smeared in the press as a result.

I dunno man, on the first PC I built the GPU came with Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood. Then again that was almost 20 years ago (man I'm fucking old) when everything wasn't nearly as lame and gay as it is now.

Frankly I think as another kiwi pointed out before me that being DIE DEI-free is a minimum. On top of that the game has to actually be good. The recommended games simply don't appeal to me, especially The Great Rebellion being recommended as "100% anti-DEI". I'm tired of niggers and faggots and I can already browse kiwifarms for free. The flipside to this is, Shadow Gambit (not recommended) has gameplay that appeals so much to me that, despite being involved with SBI, I might end up buying it (or at least pirating it).

I think two years ago Assassins Creed Shadows would have been released as a buggy mess and would have sold well. I get a feeling that something has changed with normie gamers and the entire industry is in a panic right now.

I disagree with the clickbait title. According to steam reviews the Gameplay and graphics are horrendous. SBI just shat out another turd onto the pile of shit the game was already. There was nothing they could destroy because the game was never good.

SBI is not responsible for bad graphics and terrible gameplay and pretending they are is letting everyone else who made the game a disaster off the hook.
