At least one calculation I'm aware of says that the Earth remains habitable when its orbital distance stays between 10% of its current orbital radius, so between 0.9 and 1.1 AU. That's a range of between 83.7 and 102.2 million miles. A few thousand miles is well within range.

If you drastically change the AU a planet is from the sun you'll change it its temperature. Or do you think that if you move Mercury closer to where Venus is it'll still remain the same temperature? There's other things to take into consideration when figuring out the planets temps at that point, like Greenhouse gases. You'll want to increase or decrease the amount.
