Late reply, But I don't think trying to dry pressed shirt and tie style explain to people who are already paying double for groceries the bland economic formulae behind such when they are already living it and understand the part that truly matters (IE: Something is wrong and no one is fixing it yet) is going to resonate like you think or wish it did for the sake of some sort of perceived higher intellectual political character. People are ignorant but people also innately know the how and why of things as well. They know that simply TRYING beats not doing a goddamn thing as is. That's all that matters at this point.

Been on a 3k mile work trip and despite trying my best to catch up on this thread, alas, I failed. Possible full of clocks post but here goes:

Poli signs: from my travels in the eastern rust belt, I saw more Trump than Harris signs but far too many Harris signs. Not from a winning standpoint, but it baffles me that TDS is that strong that anyone would vote for that ticket. I drove past a lot of farmland but never saw the clumps of handwritten/painted signs mentioned earlier in the thread. Earlier this year I was also in western parts of the corn belt and saw several Trump signs, some of them huuuuuge. Also spotted: Country Over Party, then in smaller letters that could barely be seen (I was a passenger but I wouldn't have been able to read it if I was driving) was Harris/Walz. They really can't stick to a campaign slogan. At all.

re: my Harris narc bingo card: its almost full now. And because people keep labeling Trump a narc: narcissism comes from deep-seated insecurity, and one thing Trump isn't is insecure. He's grandiose, over confident, and engages in boisterous blather, but that's not a coverup for insecurity like narcissism is. He's demonstrated empathy (whether that's totally altruistic doesn't matter, he's capable of it) and he's admitted he was wrong. Narcs can't/won't do this.

This may sound familiar: barely veiled insecurity paired with obvious disdain and disregard for others via the belief that one is superior to all others; unrelenting projection that it's everyone else's fault while taking zero responsibility for bad choices; pathological self-sabotage due to inability to self-regulate, self-assess, and self-correct because of no inner thought life; possessing a cadre of "flying monkeys" who will continue to defend and support the constructed false worldview until they are mentally beaten down and tossed to the side after their usefulness is gone; and the biggest tell: no solid self-identity or core values--whatever stance is most advantageous in the moment will be the belief system, even if it doesn't last longer than a soundbite.

A narc's #1 priority is to be in the superior position (even if that's only in their head) while using every resource and person possible to maintain that position. It's why Kam thought going on Fox was a good idea (they would softball her like everyone else and she would be the queen of all news networks because they all did her bidding) and why she flipped out when it went bad and didn't go to the Catholic dinner. Her actions/inactions make perfect sense if viewed through her insecurity lens. They are disastrous for any kind of leadership position, though. What were the viewership numbers worldwide for the debates? For any of the recent rallies? The number of views total for articles/shows about Trump getting shot or Biden being ousted? So most of those people might be aware but there's no way to really know how many people who decide to vote even care about that shit were they to hear it in the first place, either.

Here's my prediction. If Trump wins, and particularly if there's a Republican sweep in Congress, many of the leftists will go out with a whimper. I'm talking specifically about a lot of the activist base, the ones who are screaming about fascism on Reddit and DU, the ones organizing marches and protests etc. They've been whipped into a state of constant outrage ever since the Obama years and that takes a toll on a person. During the Trump years the constant fearmongering was driving some of them into a suicidal state, they went even crazier with Covid and they've been compelled to support Biden, a demented puppet who was as clearly unfit for the job as a president has ever been. Then they were told to fall in love with Kamala as Biden was abruptly dropped and the Dems are repeating all their classic panicked messaging again.

There comes a point where a person just gets overloaded with this stuff. I suspect that many of them are exhausted with this emotional rollercoaster and if Trump wins, and the "sky is falling" rhetoric gets turned up to 11 again, they're just going to tune it out. Ditch the Reddit group, turn off the TV news and find something else to do. Of course politicians and career activists will still be grifting, but I sense that many of the rank and file people are building up a distaste for ideology compelling them to support sleazy neocons because Trump is the devil, and if the media throws another hissy fit after Trump gets back in they're going to unplug from it, as much for the sake of their health as for any other reason.

If Trump wins none of these people will go out with a whimper, there is too much moneyed interest (interests with deep pockets, not (((the))) moneyed interest) that is too TDS and Republican DS in general to ever give up. Banderooskis are great at re-motivating people

mcdonalds needs all the positive pr they can get now since the food costs enough to become a luxury along with the various decline in consumption, presidential candidates going to a franchise would drive up foot traffic.
