One of the funniest (albeit unintentionally) changes was the interaction between Classic Sonic and Knuckles after you beat Sky Sanctuary. As Ian Flynn is a fatass himself and was likely deeply hurt by Knuckles's fatphobic attitude, Knuckles now asks Classic Sonic where the rest of his island is. However, they were too lazy to modify the shot of Classic Sonic sadly looking down at his belly, so now it implies that Classic Sonic is so much of a fatass that he managed to eat half of Angel Island, accidentally making the interaction even more insulting.

Also, Knuckles's new voice actor (even though he's had the job for like 5 years, damn time flies) fucking sucks.

Makes me wonder how much of the remaster changes will be the same in Japan like the TTYD remake, becuase god damn it does this look like this is going to be the Sonic version of it, just with no tranny ghost slapped on this time

I hate Ian Flynns writing so much. It’s such a butthurt overcorrection from P&G’s that I would actually prefer a Baldy McNosehair line any day over another “DYK Amy haz tarot cards?!??!”
It's funny how both are equally Trash, but whenever you criticize Flynn's writing his diehard fans will say he made things "better". Though, to give P&G credit they at least acted like professionals at least on how they addressed criticism. Unlike Ian, Who is always making some excuse and acting spiteful for why his writing sucks.

It can't just be Ian, surely? Sega of America has to have had some input in the changes? I don't understand the need for any of it. Oh well, I'll be playing Shadow Generations first regardless.

at least we can mod back in most of the original stuff.
Yeah, but why would you? There’s already a great non-cucked PC port that’s been out for years and already has a thriving modding scene. Why would you through the trouble of unfucking this version when you can play an already great and formerly easily accessible version where you have mods like this:

And so much more, to the point you could probably spend the rest of your life playing Sonic Generations. For what, a worthless drop dash that does nothing but send you flying off a platform when you press A for too long? Touching Chao models so you have the privilege at looking at in game screenshots of them in the collection room? It’s just not worth it.

The chao rescuing pisses me off a lot, I’m not expecting a whole Chao Garden or anything like that but there’s no way they couldn’t add an actual reward for finding them like some basic cosmetics. If the retards at Blind Squirrel could add them into Colors Ultimate, I don’t see how it couldn’t be done here too.

His fanboys will fight tooth and nail at slight criticism of their fat Canadian Andrew Dobson king or when evidence is shown, and sometime might go harass said person and started the "Ian Flynn the best writer" shit. In reviews, you hear it 100x repeat fucking everywhere now, like fact? Better not joke about his wife, he might dox you, lol.

Inb4 he picks a fight with the wrong site, then.

I've still not played the 2011 Sonic Generations, I was waiting to see if I should just get Sonix X Shadow Generations instead. What do you guys think?

Is it better than 2011? I guess "which should I play first?" is my real question.
Gameplay-wise the 2011 game's content is the same, though the new one comes with the addition of the Shadow side-story and its own gameplay. It's not worth 60 USD though, the original game came out at 30 USD and all you're paying for at 60 USD is just 5 new levels and its associated story content.

When you view it that way, 30 USD for 5 levels, piracy becomes the more worthwhile option. Unfortunately Generations has been delisted from Steam and is only available in a 60.3 USD bundle with the other 'legacy' Sonic games released on Steam pre-2011.

edit: I realise the original phrasing might've been confusing. In short, the base Generations gameplay content is the same across both releases, no new Sonic levels. It is the Shadow component and its different gameplay that is new.

Good thing I already have it :story:
I must have picked it up on sale a while ago.

Also great answer, thanks. I'm not paying 60 for such marginal additions either and I loathe when they do that, delisting originals for a fresh price tag.

Believe it or not, I think OG Generations is the last time they even said Amy was in love with Sonic. They’ve been trying to retcon it (or at least say it was an old crush) for the last decade or so.

Don’t forget the best one, with 1:1 accurate physics:

it also doesn't help that you get two fragments of an Emulator bundle that i'm pretty sure no longer even has the original Genesis Sonic games minus CD + the PC ports of SA1 & 2, which need mods to fix and bring anywhere remotely close to the original Dreamcast versions and the Sonic 4 duology, but yet is still at a better value than a handful of shadow levels with the worse everything but graphics and maybe the level design of the shadow campaign (especially the animations).
