Even better idea would be if registering an account required paying, let's say, $10 equivalent in XMR, that would not be a big obstacle for legitimate users but would prevent 99% of spammers and pajeets from shitting up the place.

I think you'd have to have a probation system for minor infractions. Nobody's going to pay tenbux for an account to post on an "anonymous" imageboard where a shitpost that catches the eye of a petty tyrant janny results in a ban. As previous posters have said, a probation and ban system is what Something Awful had, and it inevitably results in posters glazing the jannies to get on their good side so that their account doesn't get banned, and it sucks.

I had an SA account for years, and it was a good forum for a while. But Lowtax was a shitty overlord, and many of his jannies were even worse, which was very bad for the forum because once Lowtax stopped paying attention to how his jannies were behaving, the forum turned into a safe space cesspool for troons and other flavors of sex pests. 4chan has now suffered the same fate, just with far more spam.

I hate it, but it seems the only way to avoid spam while maintaining anonymity is Proof-of-Work. It's easy to maintain quality in a small community with identities, but I see no other solution in their absence.

Just like everything with modern cuckchan, DBSpics and their pathetic attempts at "memes" (Chad-character name, (character name).. i kneel, etc.) just come off painfully forced and as a result, un-fucking-funny. Back in my day, memes usually (though not always) had a through line to something that made sense--even if it was something esoteric to a niche community--which made them actually humorous. Now it seems like every normalfag, brownoid, thirdie, and/or zoomer that infects some fandom or board seems more preoccupied with creating "memes" out of obligation to feel like they "belong" and will give their "community" some sort of validation, even when the memes are totally empty. It's impossible to tell if they're slightly, maybe being ironic or genuinely retarded (and even if it's the former, by now it's usually the latter).

You know the funny thing? the ban happened as some bootlicker was whiteknighting the mods in the middle of the exchange. I said to him "Ok Janny" and IMMEDIATELY I got the ban and my entire post history nuked. This thing leads credence to a certain "schizo" theory that mods go out of their way to create arguments so they can ban your ass immediately as a way to control discourse and curb dissenters, and if you call them out you get nuked in the spot without delay, which is how you know you were baited by a mod/janny. /pw/, as absolute shitty as it is and filled to the bring with ESL pajeets spamming gooner threads is the one place on the internet where you can discuss prowrestling and not get banned for watching a different promotion than the ones the jannies like. As weird as it sounds the constant autistic rabid tribalism has made the board so distasteful to the jannies that they ignore it. Or at least it used to be. More and more long time users are getting hardware banned for lesser and lesser infraction. BLACKED porn threads stay up for hours at a time, but God forbid you make a Hulk Hogan nigger joke. The straw that broke the camel's back for me was how the jannies gutted the /puro/ and /njpw/ threads. There were a handful of turbo autists obsessed with Japanese wrestling that would track down every single wrestling show in Japan, make schedules, find links, and basically kept interest in the Japanese part of professional wrestling alive. Just a handful of these guys drove all discussion on /pw/ and they are slowly getting picked off by the jannies for saying no-no words on 4chan.
