Finally the main character learns the power of friendship that muh heckin' socialism is the only thing that can save him and all those bad things happened because of capitalism. It is painfully dramatic.

Afterwards Sinclair was reportedly coping and seething over the fact The Jungle caused food safety reform rather than bringing about a glorious socialist revolution. So yeah, even if it was inspired by reality he 100% intended for it to be propaganda.
