This is what they do, isn't it?

They make "gay" into homosexual, so that any old-timey stuff about feeling gay is now "hurr hurr" instead of heartwarming. They make "joy" into the rictus grin of a bureaucrat out of her depth, straining for an answer to a softball question while she thinks about which of her staffers she's going to make pay for her embarrassment.

They literally want to take the very words you have for happiness and pervert them, twist them into something with sinister vibes lurking just beneath the surface. It's like something out of 1984, where they will simply change the definitions of all the words you could have used to describe your happiness (especially the short, easy ones, since the intellectuals will still enjoy using the big fifty-cent words!).

I think we shouldn't let them do it. I think we should go right on using those words and pay absolutely no mind to those who would take them from us. Be joyful and gay. Stop giggling about it and take happiness seriously.

A lot of these people are commies. Or believe in occult shit. Not all of them.

Someone from outside the existing corrupt system who swings in representing what the less insane lefties want, in such a way that it also speaks to moderates and even the center-right. Whether such a being can exist for such a fragmented coalition is hard for me to predict - I really can't tell if they're all so foundationally incompatible and just held together by corruption, or if it only seems that way from decades of uniparty bullshit, much like how the left still labors under the illusion that the right is just dominated by christian fundamentalists.

To be a populist politician you have to run on popular issues by definition, meanwhile what does the left have?

A billion Haitians are a blessing?

If I recall correctly, people would be shocked at how much minor nobility supported Communists during and after revolutions and how many time old Elite families ended up as senior party officials and the like.

This isn't just a communist thing either, a lot of the early(think beginning of the 1800's) socialist thinkers were former minor nobility who had some money or some power. From someone who has also been forced to move among them: It helps to reframe your interactions as playing the part of a spy in the enemy camp. I nod along not to agree, but to keep them talking so that I can better understand their motivations, observe their movements, and gauge their actual strength. Cataloging it in my mind like an intelligence report puts enough mental distance that I can wade through the bullshit without having to absorb it. And even though there isn't a conquering army for me to deliver the report to, I end up with a more accurate picture of reality to make my own plans.

As someone who goes to anime cons and is a big weeb I feel where @Drachenlord is coming from. It sucks when you're in an echo chamber irl and most of these people are indistinguishable from reddit opinions. So many people in the geek community think if you're not trans rights, progressive, anti Trump you must hate black and brown people. They would have won in 2016 with Sanders as the nominee. He would have mobilised the democratic voters who rightly hate Clinton and either didn't vote or voted for Trump and the youth vote which didn't turn out at all.

The really interesting thing is that AI pics are moving us toward a place where blackmail may no longer be possible. There are rumors about comprehensive blackmail networks of politicians, where they have to commit heinous deeds on camera in order to be supported for election. Is it true? Who knows, but if it is true, and now people are starting to expect AI deepfakes to be used for defamation, could all that blackmail material be instantly rendered useless? If someone had a snuff porn tape with a politician starring as the executioner, would anyone even believe it?

My pet conspiracy theory is that a big part of the surge in generative AI research and funding was due to rich and powerful monsters getting nervous about who might have copies of the baby-snuff videos they'd starred in. Wasn't long after Epstein's island was raided that artifical image/video generation got a lot of attention and made big breakthroughs.
