AI is becoming a real munchie honeypot and I have no fucking idea why. All it scores you is steroids and the terrible side effects thereof. At least the MCAS girls can leverage it to get out of anything they don't want to do by claiming allergies.
I personally know a person that has been diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency with a side of CFS that scores insane amounts of Adderall for it.

If that’s the treatment I can see how it would be up and coming.

Why are all POTSies like this. This is a comment left on a horrific EWU Bodycam video about a man with dementia who hacked up his wife (link if you really want it: https://youtu.be/E27RHHL7BLc)

Terrible what happened to Robin Williams but let me tell you about my chronic illnesses...

No one gives a fuck, Becky.

Isn't Adrenal Insufficiency similar to Addison's Disease? Addison's Disease (well, generally poorly treated and/or undiagnosed Addison's Disease) can turn mundane infections & injuries into a life threatening adrenal crisis that requires immediate hospitalization; so I could see why the condition would appeal to munchies. They can go around claiming every mild cold or papercut has put them at death's door.

Although, as you brought up - I can't imagine why anyone would intentionally want to get diagnosed with a condition that is treated by a lifelong daily dose of steroids. (...maybe they're dumb and think Medrol is the type of steroid that makes you get swoll & build muscles?)

It is addisons disease. Primary AI is addisons, when the glands themselves are kaput, and secondary AI is when the pituitary gland is not working properly and isnt making ACTH so the adrenal glands aren’t getting it.
What I think they’re being ‘diagnosed’ (annd it’s not a listed diagnosis AFAIK is andrenal fatigue. The idea of ‘adrenal fatigue’ is pretty controversial and a lot of doctors don’t believe it exists. Stress constantly isn’t good for you and it does seem logical that constant stress can make you ill (I don’t think anyone would deny that) but the idea that it’s caused by your adrenals literally burning out isn’t one that’s accepted.
They symptoms are vague and the usual TATT stuff that could be anything from being depressed and fat to having a body riddled with tumours.

Also if you smoke weed all day every day, your ACTH naturally decreases over time. Not enough to cause secondary AI, but enough that you might get a low normal AM cortisol reading every so often.

Adrenal fatigue is a favorite of any naturopath or other quack. Usually said quack has minimal to no understanding of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, and directly contradicts themselves while explaining exactly what "adrenal fatigue" is. And then the munchie decides it's akshuly adrenal insufficiency.

Speaking of steroids, whenever I see Mairead (chroniczebra) post now, I feel like I'm channeling Kate Farms Shill asking "is it worth it, Mairead?"

For context, before the unnecessary steroids she looked like this:

Oh, also, Allyson got bored and is busy working on a return to an inpatient treatment program and advertising her "anorexia relapse".

“thank you so much for doing the wording for me Sam!”

So she can type whole stories out on social media but can’t write a list?

I dunno what’s more entertaining: watching the shit liars tie themselves up in knots or that rare moment when a half intelligent munchie slips up and gets discovered.

Munchies need to stop invading my background noise. Latest episode of Caleb Hammer's Financial Audit has a guest who is an unemployed OnlyFans failure with a health excuse for everything.

I'm only 20 minutes in and so far I've learned her lung collapsed from vaping but she can't quit nicotine because she's allergic to nicotine patches and her teeth are weak from an unnamed genetic condition that's making them break down too fast so nicotine gum is out, and she's got such a severe case of withdrawal from cold turkey that her throat closed. She can't stop smoking weed or else she won't be able to eat or sleep. She can't work because she has a mitral valve prolapse (lol) and started having "seizures" at her job but the host cut her off before she could go through the long list of health conditions she was about to rattle off to him. She has severe anxiety about doctors so she can't get treatment for any of this. She promises she's not on meth but ...

Do you even chew nicotine gum? I thought you just like, bit into it then tucked it in your cheek.

ETA: lol I finally got out of the Agonizing Friday Teams Meeting dungeon to finish the episode. She cops to BPD at the end (while also claiming PTSD, ARFID, and a bunch of other diagnoses) but says she can't go to therapy because she's turned away for being too complicated. I am still under the belief that social media and growing up in a society where attention is currency is creating a new BPD-like disorder in a susceptible population that would be cured if they got off the Internet and into gainful employment.

I share this belief. There have always been nightmare people but there are definitely more now. Social media creates a feedback loop that amplifies the tendencies whereas before society largely beat it out of people. Attention as currency is a good way of putting it. It literally trains them to behave poorly.

What does "crashing" even mean, practically, in this context? Fainting? 'Tism meltdown? Feeling generally uncomfortable and/or overwhelmed and/or tired? Seizing and dying? I don't know if this woman has specified the meaning before, but this sort of language is always an interesting flag. It's medical-drama enough to garner sympathy while being unspecific enough to avoid criticism. Although I know that it's a word normal people use to discuss being tired after a long day, in this context specifically "crashing" stinks of television, like, get the crash cart doctor!
It's a very good question, it also begs the question what could possible be so worse about "crashing" than the current situation? Being conscious but not able to move, talk or apparently even think too hard. Surely anything that could be described as "crashing" is better than being completely catatonic?

I feel the same way about OCD being induced by social media spirals. Covid lockdown was the perfect environment for susceptible people to develop an irrational catastrophic contamination fear and even more irrational rituals to ward it off. The doom spiral of 24 hour news broadcasts and social media feeding them statistics fueled it along with total removal of their usual routines. You couldn't get away from it because it interrupted every single facet of most people's lives so it was all anyone talked about. I knew more than one person who wore disposable Iso suits when they had to leave the house so they could throw them out before walking in the door. Unsurprisingly those people are still walking around the grocery store in masks, know what variants are circulating, and can't be friends with the unvaccinated.

The difference is those people don't seem to think there's anything irrational about what they're doing because it was externally reinforced as not just an acceptable response but the way you absolutely must live your life or else you're literally a murderer. In fact they'll go bananas if you suggest wearing an n95 to walk your dog is a symptom of a mental illness. The BPD girls are usually also the "mental illness makes me special / gets me out of responsibility for my bad behavior" type so they announce it to the world, even if they lie about what the diagnosis is.

It definitely is training them with more effective excuses and language to use to manipulate others.

However, having known two total BPD cases before the advent of SM, they cannot hold jobs. They might make it a few weeks or months at any given job, but they cannot be in any circumstances where regular social interaction is required for too long. Usually the biggest issue arises with coworkers or bosses, but they manage to freak out on customers and/or public to if the job involves dealing with them.

Their survival strategy tended to be to find a string of boyfriends to leech on to that would support them. I wasn’t around for them past 25, but I’d bet disability checks would be the next step once dick hopping wasn’t feasible.

SM gives them a way to hone their skills of drama and manipulation and gives them a much larger pool of possible boyfriends and victims to prey upon. It also is the land of milk and honey for victim stories and GFM’s, so less IRL leeching and scheming is required.

There was a guilty verdict in some baby murder case today, Leilani Simon. She was some of the purest, raw BPD I’ve seen off of SM in years.

OCD being induced by social media spirals
This is interesting. I know a few psychs through work, most go private stuff in the side and this tallies with what they say. An increase in specific, externally induced manifestations of OCD.
OCD is portrayed in the media as mainly ‘I must wash my hands x times and clean obsessively’ but that’s not how most experience it. Two thoughts.
1. Social media and online culture is literally driving us mad.
2. Many people are completely devoid of personality and unable to form their own, meaning they gloom onto whatever’s given to them. When that was church picnics and ‘repressive stereotypes’ society worked a lot better.

I worked with a munchie who kept her stuff offline and mostly used it as a way to get out of doing any real work. Some notable things she did:
- acted like she couldn't eat solid foods for 2 years. Gained weight (she was around 5ft tall and probably the same diameter), never ate at work beyond ice cream and chocolate bars (they melt so are not solid). Everyone knew she was making it up.
- thought natural gas from eating fiber in her terrible diet was IBS.
- claimed to be incontinent for a while as a reason to hide in the back office all the time; she was using this to watch the nanny cam she had on her dog while at work.
- "broke" two fingers when a binder fell on her hand, had a forearm cast and a sling for months. Her doctor tended to play along with her BS.
- used her "broken" fingers as an excuse to get out of doing work that wouldn't even be affected by them. Years after they were broken.
- used an old foot injury she refused to treat (she had special shoes because of it and instead wore shitty, worn out sneakers) as an excuse to get pain killers
- claimed she had covid after burping once, took a two week paid vacation thag she bragged about online. Forgot the manager had her on facebook.
- was temporarily doing payroll and was on salary at that time. Would vanish for "heart problems" constantly, when asked for a doctors note she refused to provide one. Was demoted and no longer got paid for her time off, stopped having heart problems

There's probably more.
