If you want to link it, I will happily give it a read. You are right that we glossed over The Troubles, but that had less to do with some pro-US bend and had far more to do with the fact that the course focused heavily on the 1800's up to 1922. My understanding is most US support for the IRA came in the form of private donations through NORAID and not through the US government in any direct way, but I'm not hitched to that idea. I obviously do not condone what the IRA did to their own people and all the people they killed - I made a broad statement regarding British actions against Ireland from basically the 12th century all the way up to 1922.

Edit to add a small point here: it was really difficult for me to read the primary source documents of what the British did in Ireland, especially during the Great Famine, and not walk away from it with a particular distaste for what the British did.

The danger with BRICS is that it could increasingly make the western economic system irrelevant. Sanctions and US pressure would be shrugged off, because ultimately countries don’t care if their payments go through SWIFT or another method, as long as they go through.

It’s also a natural development. If Brazil and Saudi Arabia can trade in a secure way without using dollars, why would they use dollars?

Now granted, BRICS could end up not being important. It’s still new so we don’t know how things will go.

But the Brits likely also just shrugged and chuckled back in the day, if someone had told them that the Pound Sterling may one day be irrelevant in trade.

Considering that the Western economic system is one of the largest, most advanced, and diverse markets in the world, I do not see how BRICs could shut us out in any meaningful way in the immediate or even long-term future. They would be relegated to trading with each other, or with other less-advanced economies. While the BRICs "zone" may have a huge population and significant natural resources, what they do not have is the technological know-how to turn those into high-quality goods; nor do they have the kind of consumer wealth among the general population to actually buy those goods. China is notoriously poor at R&D, Brazil is still a developing country, Russia is poor outside of its major cities, and it's honestly a miracle that India is a single country given how diverse it is.

While I understand the potential threat of BRICs, I think a lot of things need to happen correctly before it is anything other than an anti-US pipe dream. This topic, though, probably does not belong in this thread. I appreciate you making your case in a clear and polite way.

They disbarred some of his lawyers for the crime of representing him.

They pulled out every stop they could and wasted it all on fucking Kamala.

Read the second half of what I said. It could cause a future cascade effect if another circuit rules different. SCOTUS would be forced to clear up the rules of mail in voting for all 50 states then

This is incredibly short sighted. The west has abrogated all their manufacturing to the east. It’s not 1995; China is making strides in materials; Brasil manufacturers world class airplanes; Russia can do anything the west can for 60% the cost. India is becoming a manufacturing and software hub.

Possibly. But it also prevents them from seeing Trump up by 1% on Election night, hitting up the polls to see what people haven't voted, and then (least unethical) reaching out to them to remind them to vote ASAP eve if it's illegal / (more realistic) printing ballots and signing their name for them. it's a MASSIVE L for team "fuck it we'll cheat if we have to."

Cops use rifles when they need a lot of firepower, and almost any military “assault rifle” settled on a 3 round burst as the ideal compromise between amount of fire and controllability.

The “automatic weapons are too dangerous” never made any less sense than now.

The majority of assault rifles in service around the world feature a semi auto and full auto modes only.

Burst fire is almost (but not quite) exclusive to the Americans and the M16/M4 series.
