The prequels sucked. The sequels sucked.
Nobody on youtube is stopping the billionaires and megacorps from making better movies. They make original products no youtuber has yet talked about and they also suck.
If you want to hold Disney and George Lucas blameless and blame internet critics then you will be perfectly at home posting on r/starwars so you have no need to be here lol.
Then by that metric, the originals would've also sucked, because they had many of the flaws people blame the Prequels for.
Marketing to kids? ROTJ and the Ewoks.
Sloppy dialogue? Actors like Harrison Ford and Alec Guinness were not fans of the material they were made to work with. Alec had his character killed off because he thought Kenobi's sayings were worthless "mumbo-jumbo", and Ford was famous for saying "you can type this shit, George, but you sure as hell can't say it!"
Whiny protagonists? Luke was whiny in the first two films.
Politics and trade/commerce disputes? They talked a lot about the Imperial Senate only for it to be worthless once the Emperor fired them all, and there was even some cut scenes of Biggs trying to tempt Luke to join the Alliance because the Empire was nationalizing commerce in the core worlds. That practically drove a lot of people to join the Alliance.
If the Prequels sucked for these reasons, you'd have to tar and feather the originals to be fair.
I thought some of RLM's point where good just has the ending multiplier point they had for TPM. Where the climatic battle had four sides shown (Anakin, Jar Jar, the Maul duel, and Padme taking Theed's palace) while Jedi had three (Lando in space, Luke vs Emperor on the Death Star and Han and Leia on the ground). You get what I'm talking about.
Though I thought it was retarded for them to complain that the tools on the Lars homestied are in different places then they are in ANH considering that in 22 years, they could have just reorginzated things.
One of the dumbest things they complained about was that there was no clear protagonist, when it was clearly Qui-Gon Jinn, whom the film followed everywhere until his death. Then there was RLM complaining as to why the Jedi Council didn't join Jinn and Kenobi on Naboo, when the movie made a point to say that the Council didn't believe Qui-Gon about the Sith until the dude killed Jinn in combat.
