It’s probably going to end up a 50-49% thing. They won’t fall behind enough to think they need to radically change. Or they will just barely win.

If they lose they will blame Jill Stein. They will blame the racists and homophobes and Christians. Then they will go back to doing the same thing and have a good chance of winning next time because the two party system gives voters no other alternative once Republicans start fucking up.

Maybe you get some change if Trump pulls the blowout, but even then I think they might triple down.

How does someone lose an accent? People can tell where I'm from right away and it never disappears.

For some people picking up accents is very fast, as is imitating specific speech bits. Once you "unlock" the specific phonemic traits of an accent you can do it fairly easily at will and switch between them easily (you will fall out of practice if you stop for a while, though, for anything but the accents you picked up before age ~20). Moving all over the US has gotten me the ability to do a full Fargo or a Georgia drawl, but the only accents that work to get good jobs are East Coast or West Coast, so I go with the latter.
