Russian Special Military Operation in the Ukraine - Mark IV: The Partitioning of Discussion

After Times Radio Georgia election predictions were comically wrong. Times Radio outright called upon NATO to remove Georgia's newly elected government in the name of defending democracy and Ukraine. As well as using American and EU tax money to push anti-Trump propaganda.
It's democracy only when an electon goes the way they want it to.

I assume this is a nationalistic spin on the "give up your weapons" charade most governments do, but nafoids would definitely spin it as RUSSIA IS RUNNING OUT OF HANDGUNS!!!! which would be hilarious.
IDK. I don't think they could be running out of guns. Guns aren't like tanks or bmps or planes which take months and months to assemble and years to deliver complete orders. They do take time but not as long.

By the way, would any of our resident Russians mind sharing how Russian gun laws work? Is it like Poland and Germany?

The American killed in Kursk has been identified. He's one Corey J Nawrocki, who arrived in Ukraine less than two months ago. I suppose he lasted a bit longer than the poor schmucks who were pressganged around that time.

And a bit less than the rest of his raiding party

You can register as a gun owner and prove you have a gun safe. Then you are allowed a smoothbore rifle permit that is then upraded to include fancier toys every few years as long as you remain in good standing and are not doing a terrorism or going poaching. The permit also limits the maximum number of guns you are allowed to possess at any given time.

I don't know how I feel about all these Americans getting killed. On one hand, its a waste of human lives who have no connection to an already pointless war. On the other hand, a couple of them have been shit head leftists, and I assume all would be D.C. boot lickers in any civil war here in the states. So thanks for removing our trash, Russia? Yeah, I'll go with that. Thanks for removing our trash, Russia.

idk it seems to me like they connected themselves to the war when they went over there.

My take on it is they're like skydivers or free solo climbers. They want to experience some heart pounding thrills, sometimes it doesn't work out in your favor and you end up a wet spot on the ground.

If you think about it Zelensky is the Bossmanjack of dictators. I'm only partially joking when I say that if you look at all the dumb military decisions he makes through the eyes of a gambling addict it makes a lot more sense
Dude missed out the most important one.

"The USA PULLED THE FUCKING LEVER, THE FUNDING IS GONE! IT'S MY MONEY DUDE!"

The whole smoothbore 5 year restriction is kind of terrible. It also results in abortions such as .366 TKM. It sounds like the government is looking for civilian smoothbores specifically for anti-drone purposes, it's not something military factories produce.

What would the conditions be that makes Ukraine effectively surrender and stop fighting against Russia?
With the way the West is propping them up, I'm starting to think that it's going to take Kiev itself being either severely damaged or outright captured to end it.

It's currently not just their capital city, but the nerve center for the entire operation. All of their politicians, generals, and propagandists are there and the "Enforced Normalcy" is broadcast around the world to make it seem like Ukraine is still going strong.

Plus I've no doubt that it's packed full of foreign assets. Mercy, NGOs, Glowie "Advisors", ambassadors, ect. If Kiev was threatened, they'd leave like rats fleeing a sinking ship.

I guess it depends. If they're thrill seekers, mercy, or war tourists, I don't feel an ounce of pity.

If they were True Believers or Cold War era soldiers, I feel a bit of pity. They got brainwashed into seeing Russia as an existential threat and seeing this war as their own. But they knew the risks when they went over there.

Then there's the third possibility: that quite a few of these are troops operating there under orders from and with support from the US/NATO. They're probably Special Operations types and have definitely been told "If you get killed, you were with the Ukrainian Foreign Legion or some other independent group".

That's the weird one. They're just following orders and think they're serving their country, but they're bring treated as throwaway mercy by their own military.

No. Smoothbore just means no rifling groves in the barrel. Any gun could be a smoothbore if it lacks rifling. Could make a pistol smoothbore if you wanted to.
I think he's asking if there's a term less confusing for an unrifled long-gun.

Maybe there is but it seems you'd just call it a "smooth-bore long-gun". Since a rifle without the rifling seems like it wouldn't, you know, be a rifle.

I'd call an unrifled longarm designed to fire a single projectile a musket, personally.
Oh I know better personally than to drop names of mil-tech shit I don't know without being certain first lest I incur the wrath of people who get beet-red when they hear someone call a pistol magazine a clip.
