Man, I wanted to like Goose a couple years ago. His Halloween marathons were fun and he seemed to dig up a lot of weird little odds and ends that reminded me of trawling /x/ in the late 00s for shit about numbers stations and Candle Cove-ish stories. But I tuned out after the ahegao moment and everything that's popped up on my radar since has confirmed that it was the right call.
The MatPat video got me thinking, though. How many creators with their own established style/vibe of content that get all worked up about something or other on twitter and decide to dip into commentary content about it could have prevented a faster slide (or at least saved a little face) by just shutting up and staying on brand? Not horror specific, but it seems like common sense that the more invested you are in keeping an audience the more you should be asking yourself, "Does this need to be said? Does this need to be said right now? Does this need to be said right now by me?"
I guess it's for the best that they're all retarded. We wouldn't have a harvest to laugh about if every YouTuber had a PR coach. But the "got an audience, better say whatever the fuck is on my mind, hey why are people unsubscribing?" effect boggles the mind.
