This has possibly been mentioned before, but when Carter was running for re-election the polls constantly showed him with a slight lead against Reagan, just like Kamala. The actual end result however was an absolute blowout win for Reagan with something ridiculous like 480+ electoral votes, and even winning the popular vote, because people were tired of inflation, international conflicts, etc.

I wouldnt be surprised to see the same thing happen again, polls be damned.
