See, this is part of what makes John's run for Congress so ridiculous: despite attempting to recreate himself, first as a politico and now as an actual *choke* politician, John's ego is too bound up in the make-believe laurels of his past to resist commenting from the grand dais of "Totes Werlds Behst VR Unreal Engine Develeopard You Guise". This is because John's "new identity" is only in part due to his giant mouth and fondness for asserting with authority that which he knows nothing about; rather, John was forced out of his position as Numero Uno Feminist Vidya Developer by the embarassment of Revolution Shitty: Autogynephiliac Epileptic Edishun....he didn't want to become something new, I suspect, but he was forced to by the failure of his magnum opus and the hard reality of Frank snapping the wallet shut on this particular dream endowment. John doesn't want to make vidya, he just wants to be thought of as someone who makes vidya.

It's rather like David Gallant and his self-professed reason for entering the "games industry": not out of passion, but rather out of EGO, to be one of the hipsters. But John luvvvs to think of himself as a vidya developer; it's so hard for him to put this particular play-pretend hat down because its one he's worn over his rapidly receding hair for so long. He needs to be seen as smart and talented and creative and righteous and wacky. His whole life is bound up in trying to get others to think that he's something he's not. This is why Twitter is such a natural fit for John; it's essentially streaming fabricated ego propaganda; everything John wants you to think about him.

See, John only has fake identities; because without fake aspects of his personality, he's.....John Flynt. Think about it: Woman. Vidya Developer. CEO of "company" run out of his sofa-fort / dog Auschwitz. All lies, or gross exaggerations.

We've all commented on and joked about John's odd conversational tendency to ingratiate himself with "marginalized" groups he wishes to usurp pity points from, and how strange it seems that John can't understand just how off-putting his constant one-upping and virtue signaling is, but I think I've figured part of it out:

Because John's "identities" are wholly bullshit, that is to say, he does and has none of the skills which are bound up in his public persona, he NEEDS reinforcement (or even just the passive reflection) of a tacit audience to bludgeon that tiny inner voice of reality which whispers, in the tones of Deagle Nation: "You ain't a woman. You ain't an engineer. You ain't shit!" into muteness.

This is why the constant "As a video game developer....", "As a woman.....", "As an engineer.....", "As a journalist......", and now "As a prospective candidate...". John is trying to fill up the nothing inside him with empty, unearned titles and dubious, un-investigated honors.

By this metric, I think we can say he doesn't really want the position he's running for, really. That's not what this is about for John. Sure, I imagine he'd take it if he actually got elected, but what John really wants is people to see him running. People to see how smart and dedicated and virtuous and brave Brianna Wu is......

....because John Flynt is so obviously none of those things.

That's pretty much the main drive behind most SJWs: not to actually create positive change, just to let everyone think they are. Actual change is hard work, and it's just easier to sit at home and scream at Cinnabon on Twitter about how a joke they made about Princess Leia's hair is harmful to women, instead of actually volunteering at a shelter for abused women.

That holds true here. Wu isn't serious about this AT ALL. He'll push this as far as he can, collecting donations, making press releases (but not press interviews, unless he has the whole thing vetted beforehand), and saying what he thinks people want to hear. Soon as it involves actual work (or the inevitable truth about his shady past comes to light), he'll make some lame excuse about "death threats from gamergate" and bow out, taking all that nice free donated cash with him.

Johnny is just pulling the same scheme that Sarah Palin did: act like they're seriously running for office, milk the idiots for all they're worth, soak up the fame and adoration, then fuck off with a fatter bank account.

Have we ever not left decisions about any cancer between a patient and their doctor unless they decided on batshit insane stuff like oak bark extract and sweat lodges?

Since Wu (TRUE and HONEST woman) can still get prostate cancer does that mean he wants to be "he" now?
