I think that's unfairly reductive. Obviously the only people who care enough about making their in-game character slightly more naked to sign a petition are going to be gooners, that doesn't make it reflective of the majority of people who are just sick of corporations deciding on their behalf what they should be allowed to see.

It's like the censorship that was in DMCV: I didn't even realise it had been censored til I saw people complaining on Twitter and showing examples. You can't avoid interacting with the they/themlet if you want the best ending or to advance the other characters' personal stories. From what I've seen of clips there are multiple instances of pronoun correction and "have I told you I'm nonbinary today". Your character will even affirm Taash's they/them nonsense without being prompted. You can't even stop your character from saying it because you don't get a dialog choice. It's so forced and unnatural. Plus Taash acts like she has autism. Which makes it even more annoying.

They forced an ugly, autistic enby on the player and there's nothing you can do about it.

You are forced to recruit every character, but the game rips-off the "suicide mission" from Mass Effect 2. So technically you could get characters killed but only at the very end.

You can just avoid personal quests to mitigate some of the cringe, but the game is just too mediocre to warrant suffering through the main plot.
