Historically speaking
wasnt the Republicans the one who freed the slaves?
and the South were democrats werent they? them plantation owners.
Yes, but historically illiterate people genuinely buy the idea that "The parties completely swapped positions back in the 60s-80s" but the truth is more complicated than that.
There has been six major realignments of the parties in American history having to do with the concerns of the era. Of relevance to our discussion are the Third through Sixth Systems.

-Third Party System (1850s-1880s): Republican party, which was founded on the abolition of slavery and encouraged Westward expansion, vs Democrats, who favored slavery, white supremacy, and protection for religious minorities (Catholics).
-Fourth Party System (1890s-1920s): Republicans supported tariffs, gold-backed currency, and imperialism, while Democrats supported free trade, silver-backed currency, and were anti-imperialist.
-Fifth Party System (1930s-1970s): Republicans supported Small Government and anti-Communist actions, while Democrats supported Big Government and New Deal Welfare programs.
-Sixth Party System (You are Here): Republicans support Constitutionalism, Big Businesses, and Social Conservatism, while Democrats support modern Civil Rights and Environmentalism.

Of note is that Segregation was not a part of either platform in the Fifth Party System. Truman desegregated the Military and Eisenhower desegregated the Schools. The only opponents to desegregation was an offshoot of the Democrats called the Dixiecrats, who were that system's radical Democrats, equivalent to people like AOC or Ilhan Omar today.
Basically, how we got to where we are today is that Welfare caused the Democrats to gain a lot of support among Blacks, so they took over the traditionally Republican black vote. Republicans, looking to make up what they lost, softened their messaging against the South, who had been completely abandoned by Democrats.

The Republican party is not the same party that it was during the Civil War, but that doesn't mean that modern Democrats are Civil War Republicans, either. No party is, because the Civil War Republicans were a party that existed at that time to address the problems of that time. They don't exist anymore because they don't have a purpose.

Has anyone posted Rock 'n Roll McDonald's yet?
White women continue to be the left’s favorite scapegoat but they somehow don’t understand how the constant dogpiling didn’t result in white guilt, but rather white women changing allegiance to where they are actually accepted.
White women are Schrodinger's demographic.
