Taurus is what you buy when you are
A: A cowboy and want the cheapest revolver that does .44 Mag or want to meme with a shotgun revolver
B: A poorfag who wants to pretend that they are not so poor they have to buy a Hi-Point, but completely without the realization that at least Hi-Point gives you some Lvl 1 starter gun swagger.

Taurus is a meme brand. The Taurus Judge in particular has cases of it exploding in peoples' hands (although so does Glock to be fair.) This is just a bargain bin 9mm, unironically the fag probably would have been better off buying a Hi-Point. That model in particular is also kind of a girl gun.

I think it's fine but the trigger is kinda shitty. Taurus is poverty tier (for the most part, they have some ok revolvers) but they're a step above hipoint and a hipoint will kill you dead as easy as anything else
The GX4 is their current model in that series of products and it's actually pretty solid. They completely redid the trigger from the ground up and it's probably the best sub-$400 microcompact you can buy. I carry a GX4 TORO
E: Shit, the base GX4 is $290 at Academy, so it's a sub $300 gun now. Dude shoulda spent the extra $20 for a way better gun

Gotcha. Based on the few seconds of Googling, it seems like a gun that women would buy in order to defend themselves. Not an actual decent gun. I feel like if I was going to get something that's concealable, I don't want a cheap fuckin' pistol.
I've just seen that Taurus' are known for jamming a lot? What a great gun to recommend lol.

Don't get me wrong, if I aimed that gun at you from a self-defense range and pulled the trigger until it stopped banging you'd very likely die. But if your budget is $300 then there are better options. If you skulk Gunbroker or buy used, you can get a M&P shield series chambered in .45 for example.

In the opposite spectrum, please gun-curious Kiwis. Do not buy a Taurus. For that $300 you can get a police trade in pistol off the internet or your LGS that is not going to rot in a safe the first time you bash the slide release a bit too hard and bend it and figure it isn't worth the repair.

Older taurus(es?) can be really good. See their clone of the 92 and the Cheetah. If I recall, they got a hold of some beretta machining equipment and made these things. Those are based as fuck. Taurus clones of good guns (beretta) can be incredible. Taurus(es?) that are proprietary are just okay to real stinky.
