There is no point in even trying to compete with it. Outsourcing to China was a mistake that cannot be fixed. Doing nothing about it is better than harming American consumers. China would adapt to the tariffs, anyway. They're the ones with the power to push their prices into the ground.

China is not eternal. They have not always done the things they are doing today, so there will come a day when they won't be doing this anymore.
They can push their prices further into the ground, but they will also push their own people further into the ground by doing this. Chinese people are still people and Xi knows perfectly well what he can get away with and what he can't get away with, that's how he stays in power. Chinese cutthroat politics would eat him alive otherwise, like it has done to many other politicians who overstepped.

Not using shitty Chinese steel is a big cost increase for the manufacturing any piece of industrial equipment.

But it also means it’ll actually meet your spec, so it’s give and take.

I think the extent and impact of tariffs expected is overstated. After all, Trump's Chyna tariffs were largely retained by Biden and no one talks about them nowadays. Biden even increased them this year for things like electric cars and solar cells.

Fundamentally at this point, tariffs should be used to shore up national security, like steel as mentioned. and maybe things like electronics (the US can't rely on China for its chips or batteries, especially in the drone era).

Consumer goods, probably less so- though it is always important to have an industrial base that can pivot on a dime from making tat to supplying the military.

It's not as bad as Mondale but it's definitely in the same tier.

Still too shallow for comfort- like how Boris Johnson's Conservative 2019 victory that demolished some longterm Labour seats was followed up by Labour stomping the Conservatives last year, if Trump faffs around, doesn't clean up elections and delivers a RINO platform, these wins will be going back.

I bought the chrome lined premium version barrel with the FN marking from PSA.

So far both have the same accuracy.
