BROOOOO, I did the SAME FUCKING THING, but not as masterfully. You always put a smile on my face in KO. The Hill was my go-to for uncomfortable articles due to the mbfc rule.
They never had an ounce of introspection on KO. I remember them arguing to loosen the bias restrictions in KO because wapo was labeled too far to the left for them to use as a source. They didn't change their preferred source to a less biased one, they argued the rules needed to be loosened.
The Secret formula: I would use sites like Milo's Dangerous.com or Pj Media to determine what possible news to post was likely the most counter-bias to the left and reverse engineer to find an article that met the mediafactcheckbias. I remember the Hill often had an article on many topics I would find and be a "Least Bias" source, but my method had it to a point I could easily pump out enough articles pretty fast to even take up nearly the whole front page of Polidicks/SH at a certain point.
The only time I got banned for sourcing was when I used a combination of
English-Bulgarian and
German newspapers that both met the guidelines and MediaFactCheckBias. So I found out then that even though FP was an international community, sites that weren't house-branded wouldn't fly even though they met the rules. I will admit to post something like this in 2017 was probably one of the more poking the hornet's nest of news articles..... At least in a top 5 if we had the articles with the most responses.
Ultimately, it never mattered what the source was at a certain point. Very few ever even with more neutral-leaning news said, "Geez, guys, Tudd keeps posting stuff from our accepted standard. Maybe we should just react normally and treat the thread like a thread," which would have been the disarming move. And I will say I was always replying earnestly and constructively, tho often in long-form replies, else I would have been banned pretty fast for shitposting. I had about 10k replies/900 threads all in all by the end and nobody ever accused me of being an asshole when I replied. Just some people couldn't comprehend one guy wasn't going to reply for what, on average, turned into 15+ pages worth of replies. Hence "ANSWER ME TUDD" was born. It would always just turn into "What is Tudd's angle here....." which of course I did post stuff obviously for the mentioned feedback loop of things.
It even got so crazy that when I finally got
banned on Facepunch by Hezzy, I in the same thread I even got accused of being anti-semitic for posting an Extra History video (I don't even think I watched the video at the time, lol) and I routinely posted new Extra History videos there on FP. In reality, the ban just happened to on a completely innocuous thread that wasn't even related to my Polidicks/Sensationalist Headline stuff. The truth was I got banned that time because Hezzy was under a dozen pages of (to a dedicated Tudd megathread) hate trying to explain why he was keeping me around. It became, at a certain point, insurmountable (Today, I don't blame him, it was a lot of shit at a certain point and taking the piss out of the complainers wasn't worth it), and users like Ganerumo (I think he was a
french dude that was, to put it lightly, "socially awkward," but dedicated to getting rid of me) from the discord server were banding together and going to leak "secret" messages of me talking with Hezzy, which really were just the discord messages on the public FP server where I explained to guys that I would DM Hezzy or Postal directly. Frankly obvious if you knew Hezzy appointed me mod for April Fools/at some level coordinated with me on that. It was enough to give Hezzy an excuse to say he "figured out" I was a troll and he happened to choose my most recent thread. It was supposed to be a "temp" ban or something while Hezzy thought over it, but it just ended up being permanent till FP died. I would be able to make an account on Knockout with a soft unban later tho, but by this time most of the old mods were checked out and I got banned for something silly like another video.
