Facepunch/Knockout Forums - A "welcoming" gaming and lifestyle community

Well then, I say this with full civility, Tudd: I still fucking hate you.

You stirred them into such a ruckus that they eventually spiraled into something completely foreign to what they were, and in turn I lost my love for a community that had once felt like a home to me in its saner days, and have thus spent years drifting anonymously ever since I nuked and left. It's so far after the fact that even if there had been any practical purpose in actively antagonizing you at any point, there certainly wouldn't be nowadays, but I meant what I said in describing you "projectile shitting everywhere" in your rampage: you caused a huge chunk of collateral damage even towards those you weren't actively trolling, such as myself. This isn't even about our diametrically-opposed political ideologies, just on the very tangible impact you've had on their collective psyche and the fact that you got away scot-free with nothing but good memories while I had to witness people I once respected losing their minds and mutilating themselves into a cult of insufferable genderfreaks out of fear of you. I place their current zealotry foremost at your feet.

It accomplishes nothing other than my own catharsis at this point to say that I'll never forgive you, but I still want it on record: fuck you.
Tudd was unironically probably one of the last entertaining members of the facepunch end times. Even the mods used him to troll all the troons on there, leading to their eternal vendetta against hezzy due to him making Tudd a mod for a single day which was apparently enough to leave them with PTSD

I figured I would pop in and say "Hi" post-2024 election and do something I haven't done inawhile; check on the condition of FP/Knockout. I am Tudd Fudders. I figured it would be fun to answer any questions from this time.

Some proof (Have some other DMs, but this had an old FP pic with me logged in on it): https://ibb.co/BPBnJdv

Also, I want to point out that my bread and butter during this time was generating threads per the mediafactcheckbias guidelines FP used. Obviously, I chose the news headlines and articles that FP at the time was uncomfortable seeing due to the increasing left-leaning bias on the site, but the news articles were always from places like the NYT, WSJ, WS Times, etc. And since I posted validated news sources per the community rules, I couldn't be banned without it looking very subjective (and at the time some old guard mods like Hezzy/Postal played by the rules/didn't mind a gaffe at the radical side of a video game mod forum.) I only ever seldom posted Infowars unless it was in the video section (which had barely any rules) for humor/reaction. It was a fun ride back then, a lot of banned accounts left in the wake, and from what I see here, it does appear things have gotten worse/they haven't ever self-reflected on the histeria at all.
BROOOOO, I did the SAME FUCKING THING, but not as masterfully. You always put a smile on my face in KO. The Hill was my go-to for uncomfortable articles due to the mbfc rule.

They never had an ounce of introspection on KO. I remember them arguing to loosen the bias restrictions in KO because wapo was labeled too far to the left for them to use as a source. They didn't change their preferred source to a less biased one, they argued the rules needed to be loosened.

The Secret formula: I would use sites like Milo's Dangerous.com or Pj Media to determine what possible news to post was likely the most counter-bias to the left and reverse engineer to find an article that met the mediafactcheckbias. I remember the Hill often had an article on many topics I would find and be a "Least Bias" source, but my method had it to a point I could easily pump out enough articles pretty fast to even take up nearly the whole front page of Polidicks/SH at a certain point.

The only time I got banned for sourcing was when I used a combination of English-Bulgarian and German newspapers that both met the guidelines and MediaFactCheckBias. So I found out then that even though FP was an international community, sites that weren't house-branded wouldn't fly even though they met the rules. I will admit to post something like this in 2017 was probably one of the more poking the hornet's nest of news articles..... At least in a top 5 if we had the articles with the most responses.

Ultimately, it never mattered what the source was at a certain point. Very few ever even with more neutral-leaning news said, "Geez, guys, Tudd keeps posting stuff from our accepted standard. Maybe we should just react normally and treat the thread like a thread," which would have been the disarming move. And I will say I was always replying earnestly and constructively, tho often in long-form replies, else I would have been banned pretty fast for shitposting. I had about 10k replies/900 threads all in all by the end and nobody ever accused me of being an asshole when I replied. Just some people couldn't comprehend one guy wasn't going to reply for what, on average, turned into 15+ pages worth of replies. Hence "ANSWER ME TUDD" was born. It would always just turn into "What is Tudd's angle here....." which of course I did post stuff obviously for the mentioned feedback loop of things.

It even got so crazy that when I finally got banned on Facepunch by Hezzy, I in the same thread I even got accused of being anti-semitic for posting an Extra History video (I don't even think I watched the video at the time, lol) and I routinely posted new Extra History videos there on FP. In reality, the ban just happened to on a completely innocuous thread that wasn't even related to my Polidicks/Sensationalist Headline stuff. The truth was I got banned that time because Hezzy was under a dozen pages of (to a dedicated Tudd megathread) hate trying to explain why he was keeping me around. It became, at a certain point, insurmountable (Today, I don't blame him, it was a lot of shit at a certain point and taking the piss out of the complainers wasn't worth it), and users like Ganerumo (I think he was a french dude that was, to put it lightly, "socially awkward," but dedicated to getting rid of me) from the discord server were banding together and going to leak "secret" messages of me talking with Hezzy, which really were just the discord messages on the public FP server where I explained to guys that I would DM Hezzy or Postal directly. Frankly obvious if you knew Hezzy appointed me mod for April Fools/at some level coordinated with me on that. It was enough to give Hezzy an excuse to say he "figured out" I was a troll and he happened to choose my most recent thread. It was supposed to be a "temp" ban or something while Hezzy thought over it, but it just ended up being permanent till FP died. I would be able to make an account on Knockout with a soft unban later tho, but by this time most of the old mods were checked out and I got banned for something silly like another video.

Post #51 is one hell of a double take... "us".

I only started what I did around 2015

At around this time FP was in a weird space where it was halfway between edgy and safespace. You could find nonsense like users with usernames like Dr. Gestapo and NateHiggers arguing for banning hate speech. Craptasket could ask a user who had literally just killed himself "hows it hanging", but a slightly racist meme could get you permabanned. It is surreal thinking about it now.

I am quite content with my own SH antics being lost to time. Perhaps my punishment is to be cursed to be on KF as one of the few more liberal users of Articles & News.

i stopped posting on facepunch around 2012 or so but whatever happened to the gold member's forum? the original gmf club was like a dozen 2004 regdate users but at some point garry opened it up to everyone who had been on the site for a certain amount of time. there was also an entire custom forum feature that was clearly trying to compete with reddit that im only just now remembering. anyways it had a little renaissance that i remember being pretty fun to be a part of but it was probably really gay if you weren't, did garry eventually axe the gold member thing or was that just always a part of facepunch's culture? might explain some things about how it turned out

You pretty much have it right. I remember finally getting Gold around post-2010 by just paying for it.

It certainly was an interesting place. One thing I noticed was a lot of the bigger assholes on the public side that chastised would let their guard down in the GMF threads. I think it did eventually die with the new UI or at least they certainly stopped doing a lot of the things it was known for (namely you could use whatever language you wanted - sometimes GMF users got to take control of the main site for a day).

I'm sure if there was an archive for GMF people could have a field day looking back at posts from current KO users.

I only ever posted in the GMF one time to say hello. BigDumbAmerican responded that I was a "nigga who should kill himself".

Now they live a fate worse than death...

You got me curious, and I did a post-search on here for BDA cause I hadn't interacted with him since the FP ban.

Wow, that is all I can say from what I have read.

I wonder if I had a Tudd-like effect on Facepunch because I was also very active in Sensationalist Headlines; had a few gemeralds in those Nation RP games as well (Scrinland, Mardylonea etc etc). I remember people would always get very riled up at whatever I posted, and I first thought they were mocking me (early on, they might have - I was pretty much a kid when I joined) - but now I see that it was genuine seething rage. I had like 5 accounts up until 2015 I think, when I abandoned it for good in favor of 4chan. LVL_FACTORY was my first, I think, and one was "IPK", but I don't really remember the others. One might've been "Andrev"

i remember when they made postal and craptasket mod and both of them were a lot less brutal when it came to how they treated users compared to like jimbomcb or garry and that trickled down to the gmf culture at the time. jimbomcb was very prolific in making stuff that people enjoyed but he was a prick that enjoyed leveraging the attention to shit on people and would hold grudges against people for no reason other than them being cringy (which was in great supply at the time), he would just start arbitrary conflicts and in-fighting and generally enjoyed being a tyrant. i distinctly remember craptasket and postal specifically teaming up to go against his retarded bullying in group chats and game servers to corral his ire because he was that far out of line, i don't think he was a mod for very long

gold member Trouble in Terrorist Town was incredible, the crown jewel of online video game experiences

You are singlehandedly the reason for the rules about disingenuous posting, and i find that hilarious. When KO really got started, they REALLY wanted to make sure they could taylor the conversations to witch hunt those with "unacceptable views".
