Business Big Tech Layoffs Megathread - Techbros... we got too cocky...

Since my previous thread kinda-sorta turned into a soft megathread, and the tech layoffs will continue until morale improves, I think it's better to group them all together.

For those who want a QRD:

Just this week we've had these going on:

But it's not just Big Tech, the vidya industry is also cleaning house bigly:

All in all, rough seas ahead for the techbros.

The problem is people take the piss and do fuck all at home. They’ll tell you how great they are but I’ve got a team and nearly all of them are about to go on performance plans.

Get back to your cagies you lazy fucking niggers.
No sympathy for the laptop caste who think they can do whatever they want, while gleefully shipping shop-floor jobs to chinkistan.
They CAN do whatever they want, because the ones that haven't been fired are good enough to command such a position of responsibility.

Cope and seethe, faggot.

This is why literally every job posting at least tech related has 1000+ applicants less than 24 hours after posting.

The "AI" we are seeing now with chatgpt and the like is going to be absolutely horrific for the tech space. Its going to lobotomize most workers like smartphones have done to the masses.
This is why networking will always win out in the end. Every job posting will now have thousands of applicants and there’s no conceivable way any employer can sift through them unless they rely more on things they’re already emphasizing, like DEI criteria. If you don’t have a network of people you can lean on within the first few years, you dun goofed.

Sucks, but keep up the process of firing them. Offering WFH will allow you to get a better cream of the crop while the crappy folks will be forced to show up in person.
I’m in the UK and we can’t just fire people for shits and giggles. They’re also all in the union so firing will have another ten levels of hassles on top of that. I’m just going to make their lives horrific until they leave or give me good cause to fire them out of a canon into the sun.

Give them a task, if they fail
give them the same task, if they fail
offer them training.
Give them a task, if they fail
offer them support and shadowing, if they fail
You can fire their arse and the union can't intervene.

Just document everything so you have evidence at the final disciplinary.

You missed out the punishment beatings.

For fuck's sake.

They have an IT union over there?!

In my neck of the woods, even if you think about IT-related unions, is enough to get everyone shitcanned almost on the spot.

However, there has been a bit of a push from unionists towards getting people on board, but we are a feisty lot and we absolutely will not submit to the whims of the mafia union. I am in total control of my salary, my benefits, etc.

Exactly, I don't want to be dragged down into the lowest common denominator. I was in a union at a government IT job once. They wanted to promote me. It took months to get the promotion approved by the union since it would move me out of the union. At least I got back pay at the higher rate once it was eventually improved

Unions over here are pretty general. So a large workplace can just have one union that everyone can join regardless of their job, or two to three who are constantly trying to poach members off it other and are even less ineffective as they don’t really cooperate.

It’s slowly dying as if you want to get on in a career being involved with a gang of disruptive lefty retards really tarnishes you. (Unless it’s in medicine were they pretty much have total control.)

Also, a unionist here is someone who supports the UK being one country. God save the King 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

That's fucking pathetic. There are office jobs that do less than Intel that already have that.
It's mind-blowing to see how some some companies, even to this day, list "free coffee, juice and snacks" as a benefit. This is the bare minimum you should provide for your employees, if you want them inside a gahdamn office building for 8-9 hours a day with some kind of comfort.

Having said that, I've read that some government jobs do NOT have any kind of amenities at their offices... not even discounts with the local nearby coffee shops/pubs. It fucking sucks.

At this point, its so standard that I see it as a normal 'perk' for job listings to talk about having those fully fitted fancy machines that can make lattes and shit on demand, not just drip coffee and tea. And for the record, they are pretty nice, not local cafe quality but for free I genuinely wasn't complaining. Made coming into the office a little more tolerable.

Good. I will never weep for government peons when they are already so bloated and inefficient. If they get their shit together, they can have one of those automated machines too.

Jesus, a technology company was expecting its people to work without a steady supply of caffeine? No wonder they've been having issues!

I've always found it bizarre for a company to waste money on free drinks and snacks besides just providing a barebones coffee pot and basic supplies (grounds, filters, cups, etc.). Maybe I'm just a bitter old cynic but I'd much rather have the extra twenty bucks a month on my paycheck than have them spend that on a daily snack for me to munch on at my desk. The snacks usually sucked anyway.

Of course, we all know they offer this empty gesture of a "perk" because it's substantially cheaper than increasing salaries across the board.
