Sometimes I remember the low point of 2022 when Tony thought this site was down for good and was gloating on Twitter that he was going to clean up the last of the "anti-trans" internet and go after Mumsnet. He was on top of the world, thinking he just had to shut up a few more uppity British women and he would be

Now barely two years later. Musk owns Twitter and the stuff he was trying to hide in this thread gets posted there about him daily, America has voted resoundingly against trannies, and even his own side is throwing him under the bus. And... he's stuck. He can't pivot, he has thrown in everything on cutting his own dick off and becoming a brave churnsgender influencer. Have fun with that, Tony!

I used to feel the same way, but I think to some extent it's the government's job to protect people from predatory and fraudulent industries. For example, if a group of tattoo artists starts conspiring to tell people that they can provide tattoos with special ink that provides amazing health benefits, but only if you pay them $5,000 per tattoo, then some level of government should be able to shut that down.
Gender doctors aren't just mutilating genitals out of some abstract respect for autonomy, they are doing it for
profit, and they are making that profit based on a lie ("if I invert your penis you will become a woman.") This doesn't just hurt deluded men, it degrades the entire medical institution and damages trust in it.
