Update from Ventura County Fire:

The fire is currently at 20,596 acres with 7% containment. There are currently 2,420 personnel on scene, including 378 engines, 20 Water Tenders, 34 Hand Crews, 17 Dozers and 14 helicopters.

VCFD is in unified command with CAL FIRE Incident Management Team 5 and we are incredibly grateful for the support of our mutual aid partners.

Damage assessment teams are in process of identifying and verifying the number of structures that have been impacted. Our thoughts are with all of members of our local Ventura County community through this devastating incident.

The fire is burning in steep, rugged terrain with dry and receptive fuels that continue to challenge containment efforts. Fire activity has decreased due to a decrease in winds over the area.

A large animal evacuation center has been established at the Ventura County Fairgrounds.

A public information hotline has been established. Affected residents can call 805-465-6650 for assistance.

Evacuation orders remain in place. Residents are encouraged to visit VCEmergency.com for the most current evacuation information. An evacuation center has been setup at Padre Serra Parrish at 5205 Upland Rd in Camarillo.

The fire has been mapped at 20,629.8 acres by CAL FIRE INTEL 641. The perimeter can be viewed by toggling on the Active Fire Perimeters layer on the Watch Duty map.

Please note that fire perimeters indicate the general burn area but do not detail the measures being taken to protect buildings and homes. Even if a building or home is within the marked fire perimeter, it doesn't necessarily mean it has been damaged or destroyed. These maps are preliminary and may be updated.

The wind has finished its backwards tantrum and is once again blowing in off the water rather than violently gusting out towards the ocean. This is good news because it will stop whipping the fire up and because it will begin to blow the ash and smoke away from Hannah’s lil lungs.

Hate to be a plug, but there are some great photo share apps that are closed systems. Only friends/family get access. It’s like private social media. (TinyBeans, FamilyAlbum, 23snaps, SmugMug, etc.) No, it won’t get you attention from strangers but it will protect your kids privacy.
