Agree but also disagree. There are tons of people who stay stuck in toxic jobs and toxic relationships that don't go anywhere (and this is not just a small percentage of people, but a huge amount). If he really wanted to, he could do a minimum of financial planning, stop WWEC and frivolous spending for like 2-3 months and start working towards doing something else.

We always agree to disagree. In this case, I don't think Phil could make a budget. Mr. Autism who loves schedules and planning out what game he'll play on March 14th of next year cannot make a budget. And even if he did make one, he 100% cannot follow it.

I think we really forget that, post 2020, he really does not leave his house, if he even does some weeks (as its speculated he just gets everything delivered now). So there's no lavish trips or anything like that he has to cut. I would also agree with Scat Syde Dave in that Phil has no clue how much he makes overall until tax time, and I doubt he even reads a 1099. Lastly, we know he's wasteful. He had to be dragged kicking & screaming into realizing he could buy game keys on other sites and not just pay whatever the price is on Steam/Playstation Store/Xbox Store. I'm almost positive he's already forgotten this too, as I think he just bought random games on the PS Store last night for example.

One of the other things I always mention about Phil, and it applies to a lot of lolcows, is that they never hit rock bottom. Like true rock bottom, about to be evicted/lose the house, can't buy a meal, etc. Phil has never remotely been close to this point, ever. He's pretended and exaggerated that he was, he's used "lunch meat sandwiches" as him being broke, and he's acted as if he cuts back, but he never does. If you're broke, you're not eating out once a week, and somehow buying a kitchen full of groceries. Fuck, you wouldn't even use paper plates if you were broke because you'd just wash the dishes by hand.

Sorry there is one last point too... he's a 42 year old man with no savings and cannot grasp the concept of saving money (he called it hoarding).

TL;dr Phil would get a real job before he learned to budget.

Phil cannot make a budget, as is proven during the periods of time after Leanna that he complained constantly of overdrawn accounts (pre-chargeback saga) he just spends what he thinks he has money for and if he dips low he just complains at his audience to make up the difference. It's why he really stresses tips, because he just can't be bothered to control his spending.

Barring some sort of sexual harassment/whatever allegations coming out (and they won't because DSP keeps to himself) there is basically no chance at all that DSP ever gets "cancelled". For anyone who doesn't remember that, DSP put out a dumb tweet calling streamers who played a game early "paid shills" (I still maintain that he is correct on that and that livestreamers are faggots) and pissed off dozens of high up people within the gayming and livestreaming industry (including former Twitch moderation staffers). What was the end result of it all? fucking nothing. Because DSP for better or worse is not a part of the gayming or livestreaming industry. He just has his YouTube account and that is basically it. He doesn't have any sponsorships to cancel in the first place. The only people who will take him on as a guest regularly are Kino Casino who are a bit similar in that way.

There's nothing to "cancel" to begin with and anyone who thinks he can be "cancelled" like used to happen to online personalities is wrong. Besides people not really getting "cancelled" that much anymore, DSP has no industry involvement and therefore doesn't rely on any industry or industry contacts. He also doesn't do anything quite heinous enough to warrant his accounts getting banned. The only real threats I can remember were people spamming flags/reports against his accounts and getting him removed from shit like Streamlabs, but he isn't dependent on any one service like that anymore.

About the biggest risk DSP has of being "cancelled" is his main YT getting banned or suspended repeatedly, but he doesn't really do anything against the terms of service for that to even happen.

I mean what's the most recent controversy that I can remember (besides admitting the WWEC account was his, which means he had been lying for years to his audience and his own family) was that people confronted him over Derish (who is fairly fucking creepy). DSP already knew about why Derish was controversial and didn't do shit about it for years. He listened to a few people on a fucking livestream (as in, this didn't happen via DMs) and when confronted decided to finally remove Derish from his streams - DSP can do that kind of shit for years and basically nothing will ever happen to him.

Phil "curates" his audience. The only people who can stand watching Phil unfiltered are mentally handicapped or socially challenged. The fact that Phil is shunned by the internet and world at large is a selling point. Phil is just as much a loser as they are, but he can still sustain a few hundred viewers per stream and make good money. To those people, he is a success.

There are no shortage of disabled people in the world, so Phil will always have an audience, but the second the disability check stop, the business is in major trouble.

Something like this is exactly what we expect from DSP, because here we all understand what an incredible moron this guy is. But imagine, being a professional streamer and youtuber for 15 years and not even tracking your income or expenses (never mind having a budget). It sounds absolutely bonkers, but it's Phil, so it totally makes sense. How can anyone live like that?

Him going bankrupt and not having all of his assets accounted and the laxity rendered to him as a result of covid, dumb luck etc, is what I consider the worst possible outcome for him to turn his life around. The wake-up call being a half measure and letting him walk away with most of his toys just reinforced the fact that he can be a retard on the internet and jerk off on camera and live a comfortable existence with his vices. Had the bankruptcy been more accurate and he actually lost something significant, like his condo or an analogous asset, that may have rattled the cage enough to break through his symbolism, because viewers would start to point out that his background is a shitty and smaller apartment, and Dave is a man obsessed with aestheticism and seeming. But since he didn't lose anything symbolic of his manliness or his job or whatever the fuck goes on in that ring of hell that is his mind that he justifies as good and proper, but coasted by without any greater shame or embarrassment - I think that most of what we do as humans is influenced by peer pressure, shame or embarrassment, and given Phil's insecurities and his reclusiveness, he has experienced little of those - he has only made it all the more impossible to disabuse himself from his nightmare.

Phil thinks of himself as a WWE Wrestler, and is stupid enough to not realize that it's all fake to begin with, so he must reconcile his reality as if he were about to come out on stage and down from the rafters. That's why all his problems can be so minute as getting a free computer to work, because he loves the attention like he's in the ring, so he'll drag it out for hours to hear himself, all symbolic of his "striving" against the ultimate heel: the detractors.

Even if that happened, YouTube will demand a fair amount of reports, quantity here matters. How much that generally is would probably require some testing and trial & error, so I'm not sure right now.

His old channel actually has content that violates TOS, but the platform has done nothing against it.
