If Nick is actually intercepting correspondence between Aaron and his lawyer while his wife has an ongoing criminal case against Aaron, then the entire revenge porn case could easily be tossed. If Nick and by logical presupposition Kayla, know the strategy of Aaron and his lawyer before the trial then they can pivot their story and evidence better against him, it's impossible for Aaron to get a fair trial under such circumstances. But on top of that, this is the type of thing that gets Lawyers disbarred, Lawyers get away with a lot, some would say too much but there is a line and that line is fucking with other Lawyers (or judges). Spying on Opposing Council is the kind of shit that WILL get you disbarred.
