True enough. He'd even mirror exactly what I said if it were flipped on its head and a blue state that turned "red" from similar fuckery, because he'd be pissing and moaning about it nonstop. Nearly every hardcore leftist would be, in a fucking heartbeat, without an ounce of irony or thinking, "oh yeah..." (Even if they did, let's be real, they'd never say it out loud unless they thought it could put their side into a more advantageous position.)
Don't think so, don't think he was around for a while before the election either. SideScrollers and its recent guests could add Dev's reactions to the content they've been covering (the meltdowns of various game journalists and personalities in the sphere) and it would not look out of place in the slightest, though.

Calling what happened to Sargon "radicalizing rightward" is beyond parody. He saw the government of his nation weaponize the values he held to tear his nation to shreds. So, he started reading political literature, the real kind, so he could learn where his thinking went wrong and how he could reforge it.
He simply got better at thinking.

Sargon didn't radicalize, he was forced into a corner by communists and neoliberal zealots and had to re-evaluate his values to survive. Dev is a fucking coward though so they idea of someone hardening up under pressure to stand their ground is foreign to him and he instead would have moved his position to whatever the "new" centrism is.

So if I'm getting it straight, he's ridiculled as "Sargon of Applebees" because he doesn't see the problem - despite reading good literature to understand what the true issue is happening in front of him, and is wishing to take a "centrist" point of view? Kinda, Sargon was mocked because he refused to understand for a very long time. He did what Dev did trying to be fair and centrist, but he has stopped that. He still does a few lolcow-ish things but nowhere near as bad.

I think the big reason why Sargon achieved light lolcow status for a short time was because he took himself much more seriously than other youtube funnymen who came up during gamergate, and was also much too immature at the time to really come off as anything more than a kid. But, to his credit, he did manage to go legit. Lotus eaters is a news show with a pretty decent following; not quite mainstream, but it's up there for grassroots news shows. Guy managed to double down and stick the landing.

I can speak from extensive personal experience that when you're going through some serious health problems, your brain goes to places you wouldn't normally go. Anything like cancer or disease that's eroding some part of your body and fast-tracking you to your grave, whatever it might be, you find your body chemistry starts doing weird fucking shit and it can cause some pretty severe mood swings and states of mind you're not really proud of later, but don't really have much as much control of in the moment as you normally would. Even worse when whatever is wrong with you requires medicine that also fucks with your head, or your overall body chemistry in such a manner that your head gets fucked with anyway.
To my recollection, Jim always had some irrational hateboner for Sargon well before that. There were good points to criticize Sargon for and extract lols from that were well deserved, but I think Sargon just really wanted to affect serious change in the world, and it seemed like that goal really bothered Jim for whatever reason. I remember while it was happening I stayed out of the drama and wanted nothing to do with any of it. It was retarded, self-defeating and unproductive for both sides.
It seemed to me what Sargon did was go back to square one and try to reevaluate political and ideological history. As soon as he began doing that, Sargon stopped being a centrist and stopped worrying about where he was aligned. From there he dropped a bit of his pretentiousness and matured a bit, I think. That's not something Dev has the ability to do, because it would require him to entertain the possibility he was ever fundamentally wrong about anything.

I know TAL still doesn't like Sargon because he thinks Gamer Gate failed because people tried to turn it into a "real" political movement, which is kinda, sorta Jim's whole thing. But, I'm not so sure about that line of thinking. Culture IS downstream from politics. If you don't like talent-less nutjobs turning your hobby into a hollow propaganda outlet, you need to make your voice heard in as many ways as possible. You can criticize Sargon for looking horrible optically, that's fine. But, I think his heart was fundamentally in the right place (even if he could have done a MUCH better job presenting himself.)

Because Jim left GG when it was 1) Given figureheads for the movement, 2) Filled with Grifters, and 3) As a result, it lost its way.
When Sargon admitted to wanting to fake bring~it~back by having Trump tweet about it, no one shouldn't be surprised Jim was annoyed.
But then on top of that, again, Sargon chose to strike first working with Skeptics, SJWs, and some journalist (I think the one who went at Pewds before) to fuck with the "Alt Right" around the time with Kraut's BS as well.
Sargon may be better, but he wasn't innocent. Far from it.
Though that all is documented here on this site and through archives
So I don't get the confusion here.
