The other difference is that her downfall was a really nasty mix of the media coming for her and Democrat lawfare coming for her so badly that she stepped down as governor.

Sarah Palin's life, both professionally and personally, got fucked by the people that went after her.

Its typically an incredibly shitty position to be in as a defendant because now they know exactly how you planned on defending your case. Binding him with the terms of probation is nonsensical and wouldnt pass constitutional muster. The President of the United States doesnt have to ask his probation officer if he can visit Alaska or go to a foreign country, and the head of the armed forces cant have a weapon? A new york PO can make him report to him whenever he wants and give the president piss tests? LOLwut? He MAY sentence and then stay pending results of appeal. But he knows he will lose that appeal. They may also have a plan where they sentence and Hochul immediately pardons. Trump is likely to refuse the pardon and let the appeal process play out.

Also he can appeal if he gets sentenced. He will win the appeal, him being the President transforms the appeal into "likely to win" to "issue the Supreme Court needs to settle".
