My mother in law is a covert narcissist. It's weird to deal with. She will do something and expect praise for it. If the praise doesn't come, she will cry to other people that nobody appreciates what she does to get her satisfaction that way. She usually wins either way. Initial praise or a "there there, you are so good" from the people she then confides in.
