Having a wine glass sitting on a carpet to be easily knocked over is a common wine aunt move. I was once at a neighbor's place helping her set up a new BBQ and in her drunken state she left the BBQ lighter on the floor and I had to grab it as her dog was trying to chew on it.

Thankfully he was ok.
