So I will say that I have certifications in water damage, water damage restoration, and a few tangential certs. If he actually had real wood floors they would not need to replace them because of some water damage. They often don't even replace them if there is a full on flood much less "a pipe leak that was caught quickly". Once the floor is dried, real wood goes back pretty much to the exact condition as it was before -- even when they warp very badly after repeated floods, they return to the original condition as soon as they are dry. The mistake people make is trying to fuck around with them before they are dry (IE: sanding down high spots while it's still wet) which then become huge dips.. Based on what he said, I am guessing his cabinets are all fake wood, MDF or something, and the floors are laminate -- which retarded people always call "real wood floors" even though they couldn't be further from a real wood floor if they tried. The machines he is referencing are just dehumidifiers, maybe heaters, and air movers. Are they loud? Arguably. If you are gone for a month maybe have someone check on your house every day or two, but I think he's full of shit on this. Either that or he got scammed by some restoration company (which wouldn't surprise me at all) who hit him with the "oh yeah we gotta replace everything" line.
