I realize this is a bit off-topic, but a mentor of mine (old school Dem, gay, harris-bro, took the Puerto Rico bait) just reached out and asked for podcast or journalistic recommendations to "help understand the outcome of the election and future of the country". I can't exactly tell him to join the Farms and even Rogan is probably too much for him.
What do you guys recommend for someone on the precipice of breaking the conditioning?
I'm seconding the suggestion to just tell him to watch one of the podcasts. I suggest JD over Trump, though, since Trump runs off of vibes while JD is better at articulating the details of the MAGA platform.
There's a reason that he and Walz completely flipped favorability polling pre and post-election. JD is very good at winning people over when they listen to him, the only reason his polling isn't even better is because of the large amount of Dems who straight up refuse to do so.

Not my type of lady but time has been very kind to her

I've been seriously considering swapping my PFP from ACB to Roseanne Barr for about a year now.

Like Trump, one of the things I like about Roseanne is that she is unabashedly real. She may be retarded sometimes but she's also obviously not focus group testing her public opinions. In an age when every celebrity's image is managed by professionals, that's incredibly refreshing.

Her appearance is in line with the rest of her. It may not be what any particular person enjoys, but it's honest and without pretense or affectation. This is why, e.g., Trump's love of McDonald's doesn't look like a cynical ploy the way it would if a Mitt Romney took up a Big Mac habit.

Some people go through life acting as their actual, natural selves. That used to be almost everyone. Now, even normies are performative clones of their TikTok idols, speaking with exaggerated gestures and wide eyes. People who are just themselves and don't feel the need to doublethink their own opinions will become more and more standout as this trend continues.

Same thing with opiate addicts. They can stay clean for years, and “reset” their tolerance. That first hit after abstinence will get them nice and high.

But within a few weeks, they’ll be back to the same crazy high tolerance they had when they quit. The receptors have been permanently changed.

Have you ever heard about the Sinclair method btw?

It’s a treatment for alcoholism where you keep drinking but take naltrexone at the same time.

That way it decouples the pleasure addicts feel from drinking from alcohol.

I’ve heard people swear by it.
I never took Naltrexone, but it absolutely works for tons of alcoholics and it's dirt cheap. It is offered by many doctors and it not only prevents you from getting the high feeling of alcohol, but it also reduces cravings. It was originally developed for opiate addicts, but a researcher noticed that test subjects also stopped drinking. It's classical conditioning.
Yeah, the Rekieta thread has been a hell of a thing to follow over the years.
Wasn't he always a douche, though? Most addicts have personal issues ("character defects") that they use substances to cover up instead of dealing with them. There are people who get addicted to drugs and alcohol because they feel good, and do fine when they stop because it really was just overuse. It's not common, but I have seen it.

Jimmy Dore, used to be on the young Turks, essentially a liberal without the sjw poison

We could certainly use more fearless people in politics. When Rogan asked Vance if he's afraid of being assassinated, he flat out said "I'm a person of faith, so whatever happens happens." How can you beat that?

This is the real answer. Someone must have pointed out to Elon, Vivek, and Trump that the UK Government was taken down not too long ago by their version of the fed intentionally crashing the economy in response to the government disobeying their unelected banker masters.

E: They will absolutely 100% do the same thing to them in the US in 2025. They're SALAVATING at the idea of doing so, because they can pin every economic sin since 2008 on him and walk away claiming to be financial experts that absolutely must be obeyed during the reconstruction in 2030. You will own nothing and be happy.
If they blow up the economy will people really blame it on Trump? His supporters know the system has been fighting him at every turn and a financial rugpull right after he gets in fits the pattern perfectly. Trump has also shown a remarkable talent at turning lemons into lemonade and an economic crisis would give him popular support to take whatever drastic measures he wants to fix it. If he managed to pull the country out of the tailspin he would have an even more solid mandate to do whatever he wanted and push through all kinds of reforms.

I could fix alcoholism from day one as president.

Disulframide is a drug that’ll make you violently ill if you drink alcohol.

Just pour it in the drinking supply everywhere. No more alcohol for anyone.

Total brewer death!

Coded Cowboy Bebop reference. Given his age and love of shitposting, I could 1000% percent see a young eyeliner wearing JD Vance watching [as} and going, "SHPIKE SHPEEGUL IS TEH COOLEST AND I WILL NAO MODEL MY ETHOS ON HIM."

What the fuck was Kamala's campaign doing spending money in all that shit? Seriously, all they have is a shitty fucking website.

Some people will drink even when they're puking blood. That becomes "normal" for them. It's unreal what addiction does to people. I wish it was an easy thing to treat like Strep, but it isn't.

It's a religious thing, for sure. My grandma was intensely faithful and she wasn't afraid of a fucking thing.

Also, @Tsukasa Kadoya, I'm calling our bet. Fatpacks is still shitposting and I believe I've won. Show me your best Android Kikaider profile picture.

Tim Dillon.
it really is too bad the media hates the right so much, in some alternate universe i could easily see Tim Dillion in a sitcom where his sister and her kids moves in and he's basically the gay archie bunker/bernie mac.

He's barely republican honestly. he's a true moderate, everyman type. his only real political position is "things are nuts out here" which is barely a position at all.
Roseanne is that she is unabashedly real.
every time i bring up her show, everyone from all walks of life as long as they're lower income and white said that was the most authentic show on tv. people forget when the show started hollywood hated her for being too Left she was a proud non-college educated feminist and didn't care about male institutions. her show was leading the way on stuff like gays and lesbian issues, abortion, etc.

Even the revival was amazing, yeah they made jokes about muslims but it was obvious that she still treated them like people, but just more like mormons or other weird religious people instead of an unprotected class. Niggers ruined that show. it still addressed the issues, but anyone that remembers the behind the scenes of roseanne understood she really controlled the writers room in a way you'd only see from Sorkin or Sheridan years later. Which is also why the writers room was a lot different than most writers rooms in hollywood, its not like on even a feminist show like Murphy Brown you'd have a butcher, a fork life operator, a dancer from CATS, a groupie, a waitress from flyover country, and a party clown all working on a tv show. But its also why people like norm macdonald, tom arnold, chuck lorre, amy sherman paladino, joss whedon, deann heline, penelope spheeris even got a shot at working as writers in hollywood in the first place.

The ACA was supposed to lower medical costs, increase the number of insured to near 100% (mostly through Medicaid eligibility expansion), and improve the overall health of Americans through the increased access to paid-for-by-someone-else medical care

It failed on all three

It increased the number of insured about 10%, from ~80% to ~90%

It led to medical costs increasing at an even greater rate than it was increasing before, because healthcare institutions used the increased government money to add a shit ton of new administrative positions at six figure salary+benefits

Americans are less healthy overall than they were before it

It's a fiscal and medical failure

Of course there are people who it benefited, there is never a government program that benefits absolutely no one

Did it do more bad than good? Uh, yeah. It's not even close

I'm not a fan of the ACA at all, but I'm playing devil's advocate as I am wont to do. It did help me and a lot of others in a specific way.
