My political hot take is that Trump needs to spark a good old constitutional crisis in his first 90 days where he tells Hawaii judge to fuck off, else everything will get bogged down in permanent lawfare. He needs to get his Andrew Jackson moment in early on while the mandate is still shiny and new. The question is which issue to pick that fight on?
He will just pick the most clear bullshit one of many and tell them to fuck off for sure. Biden admin fucked up by basically showing you can legit just ignore even the Supreme Court and just force the same issue to be constantly relitigated with very slight minor adjustments into oblivion.

I'm pretty sure Trump is gonna set the record for most EO day 1 and it won't even be close. There is so much bullshit to handle I can't even imagine how hard people are working right now to figure it all out.

Rubio has a lot to lose if he does a bad job and Trump fires him. He's giving up a cushy seat in the Senate for this. If he screws this up, his political career is over.

It's easy to keep Rubio on a pretty short leash here ... Just saying that to those who are afraid of him being a swamp rat.

It also wouldn't surprise me if Trump picked Rubio because of Rubio's long standing and consistent "tough on China" stance.

Interesting point actually but at the same time what does that say about his plans even if he is successful? Best case scenario hes SoS for 4 years, but I don't seriously think he's foolish enough to think he can use that to springboard into a successful Presidential run. It seems like he's put himself into a situation where no matter what happens, best case, his political career is over in 4 years. I wonder what he has up his sleeve...

IMO Rubio's always been better on foreign than domestic, so.. Should be a good fit. And now Florida will probably replace him with a more conservative type.
Yup, I totally agree.

I don't hate Rubio. I know that some do (and, I get it, the Gang of Eight shit was a massive mistake), but he hasn't done anything to piss me off since. Part of the reason why I don't hate him, though, is that his foreign policy stances are pretty solid (we're not going to see him calling to kill Putin like Lindsay Graham psychotically did 3 years ago, for instance).

And, yeah, the Florida senate seat is likely to go to a straight-up MAGA candidate now.

I'm sure this will entice him to run for POTUS again, and ... Why not? He'd be a more serious candidate than a Chris Christie and a Mike Pence, lol.

Don't get me wrong, Rubio will get crushed by the likes of JD Vance, but I don't think that will stop him from trying again.

And if he doesn't try again, then maybe he's ready to be retired from politics after this. Who knows.

Project 2025 is a secret, clandestine operation to create an elite branch of the Secret Service made exclusively of high school girls. These specially-trained & highly-eccentric girls will serve as Barron Trump's personal bodyguards, with one of them eventually being chosen as his bride.

Liberals are outraged by this.
Funny enough, according to various rumors and at least one girl's bragging (although this must be taken with a boulder of salt and Trump himself has said he's never known the future American Augustus to have a girlfriend), Barron already seems to be proactively gathering a harem. So far he seems to have so far checked off the childhood friend (who does at least seem to have photos to prove that she knew Barron as a kid), the exotic model who's a bit older than he is and of course, he's already got to have a princess - namely the daughter of the Emperor of Japan - in his sights per his dad's deal with the ghost of Abe. (Joking, of course. Ha, ha...unless??)
Trump should avoid picking anyone in the House of Reps for anything until it's all over. No need to erode the lead.
I think both men will remain in the House (and Rubio in the Senate) until they're confirmed, which won't be until sometime in 2025. Thanks to the California Republicans, it does seem like the GOP will pick up more than 2 extra seats with which to cover for them. I'm not sure if DeSantis will also get to pick their replacements until the midterms or if special elections have to be held for their districts, but even if it's the latter that doesn't seem to be a concern - both are safely red it seems, R+19 for Gaetz (the most Republican district in all of Florida in fact) and R+14 for Waltz. As long as they aren't replaced with RINOs (and I expect every effort will be made to ensure that won't happen), those are two Republicans who Trump can afford to move out of the House.

Rubio to his credit has been stronger then most in supporting Trump the last few years so I can't exactly hate him and he clearly knows what is going on at a foreign policy level. Him jumping headfirst into endorsing Scott really got the wheels moving and could very well be what gets him the senate majority as well. Frankly he has been pretty funny the last few years as well and has stopped being a dork like he was 2015-16 era.

Like people have said if he fucks up he is stuck on Fox being a token republican but if he does well he could very well position himself for a post Vance run at the presidency or something else.

I just wanted to reply to @Nuns with guns post from the other thread where they posted a quote from Trump's Wikipedia entry:

New fascism celebrates our freedoms and absolutizes human rights to the detriment of our sense of belonging to a social-political community.

LMAO! Freedom and individualism is literally the opposite of Fascism!

DeSantis is heavily Rino aligned. He wouldnt pick Gaetz to take it over. If he does its some kind of signal.

Rubio giving up Senate seems odd. He wont be competitive for President in 28. He would be a possible VP contender. But he doesnt bring much to a ticket. Of course Vance arguably didnt either.

His seat does come up in 28. So he could try to get it back if Desantis plans to put a benchwarmer in.

Pretty much. After the 2016 primaries, Rubio has pretty consistently defended Trump. Even in regards to the 2020 Election Steal, Rubio has defended Trump (which says a LOT about him in a good way, especially in comparison to so many weak Republicans). Hell, even in regards to J6, he consistently contradicted what swamp rats like Mitch McConnell said about it. Rubio, from the get-go, has refused to call J6 an insurrection.

So, you know what? I like Rubio for now. I hope he does a great job.

From The Hill: "Warren: Trump transition ‘already breaking the law" (archive).
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) said on Monday that President elect-Trump “and his transition team are already breaking” a law on presidential transition.

Donald Trump and his transition team are already breaking the law,” Warren said in a post on the social platform X. “I would know because I wrote the law. Incoming presidents are required to prevent conflicts of interest and sign an ethics agreement.”

“This is what illegal corruption looks like,” she added.

Warren was responding to a report from CNN on Saturday that said a conflict of interest pledge included in the Presidential Transition Act was, in part, keeping multiple transition agreements from being submitted by the president-elect’s team to the Biden administration.

The Presidential Transition Act instructs candidates from major parties to join in memorandums of understanding with the current president as well as the General Services Administration (GSA) so staff may get their hands on relevant resources like facilities, documents, executive branch employees and national security information in the period between the election and the inauguration. Those agreements also feature an ethics plan.

Last month, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) raised concerns in a letter to Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance over their campaign’s failure to enter into presidential transition agreements with the federal government. Raskin warned that the delay could have an unfavorable impact on the transfer of power in the upcoming year.

“Breaking the precedent set by every other presidential candidate since 2010, you have rejected these resources and refused to commit to a smooth transition,” Raskin wrote.

“Your actions depart from well-established norms of the federal government and demonstrate a spectacular disregard for the successful continuation of the essential institutions of American democratic government,” he added.

The Hill has reached out to a spokesperson for Trump, the White House and the GSA for comment.
From this article alone, the reader cannot determine what conflict of interest is going on. You have to read the CNN article (archive) to see that CNN and Pocahontas are big mad that they don't have Trump's nominations yet because his transition team hasn't submitted ethics pledges for positions he hasn't even picked people for yet. Am I retarded or is that right?

Good Lord.

Even in 2016 I never really hated Rubio, he was an obstacle for Trump so I him defeated and he was establishment but he never really acted in a way for me to hate him. He might be an opportunist, but he is smart enough to see at this point that it would only serve his interests to stick it out with the MAGA movement I think. Looking back at the debates he actually made good points.
