Probably talking about the ad at the end.He didnt like it. What shilling?
Does Yahtzee even talk about how modern gaming sucks, or is he too much into the culture war to admit it and just picks easy targets like loot containers and service games (but of course without actually doing stuff like supporting Stop Killing Games)."The first three sections were recreated perfectly, beat by beat"
"Is the original better? Well, not quite"
So this was Nick holding a gun to Yathzee's temple the entire time since they need the money, right? Or has he really just stopped giving a shit, to the point where he's now apathetic about the game he's been fellating for 2 decades now?
Oh, and there is more passive aggressive digs at people who have higher standards than him and didn't like the remake, such womanly behavior. At least he didn't have an autism episode and started calling random people cunts like in the Hogwarts one.
There have been many times he's said that he thinks gaming peaked with the ps2 ps3 transition. One of those times I think was in the back for blood episode and another was in the best games of 2021 episode, the one which psychonauts 2 got top spot. He just doesn't make a big deal out of it in the culture war fashion, he just shits on publishers and says games are bad.Does Yahtzee even talk about how modern gaming sucks, or is he too much into the culture war to admit it and just picks easy targets like loot containers and service games (but of course without actually doing stuff like supporting Stop Killing Games).
I find the lack of Dustborn review, disturbing.

Even on the Escapist his extra punctuation series had ads on it.

Yeah but not have him publicly say it. That must sting considering he probably shared Jim Sterling "we don't do ads" elitism.Even on the Escapist his extra punctuation series had ads on it.
Hey as bad as James Rolfe AVGN episodes go, he at least tries occasionally to make something unique and his non AVGN stuff can even be great. Yahtzee just fell into a comfortable zone for the last two decades. Even his games are the same shit as 5 Days a Stranger.Yahtzee has always been one of those George Carlinesque midwits, who cosplay as hard driving no holds bar iconoclasts unafraid of anyone and anything but are afraid of offending the hard left. I don't see why this is a surprise to anyone. Also the hat and styling of his new avatar really drives home how old and sick and tired of games he comes across in his videos. Maybe he should join Rex Viper he could swap stories with James about how burnt out they are and rock out their midlife crisis.
Wonder no more for the answer is August 29, 2024. (timestamp should be 5:20)Wonder how long until they do the ad for the crotch shaving company.
Well, so much for dignity as they say.Wonder no more for the answer is August 29, 2024. (timestamp should be 5:20)
That really does seem to be the case. Any normal person with a brain would look and see what is bringing in the money, and how much the shit that isn't getting views costs them, and simply adjust accordingly. Just like the Escapist for the 8 years or so prior to this second wind shit, people were there for yahtzee, not a damned thing else. The only reason they have the audience they do is because of yahtzee.Expect gambling/crypto ads before content gets cut back. I think Nick likes playing MCN manager. "Look at my portfolio of shows, I'm just like Bob Iger".
It'll probably get filled with something else no one wants to watch on the channel. As much as people like to bitch about the algorithm, channels cand do perfectly fine with 1-2 videos a week(some even once a month or even less often but that probably requires more effort than these guys are willing to put in). especially if they have an established audience. Instead of running their channel the way it should be for the content people want, they're treating it like a content mill like Linus Tech Tips or some other bullshit.and nothing's really taken that Monday spot

Excited to say we are fucked!Excited to share with you our Q3 report for Second Wind today as we remain committed to being transparent with you as a primarily fan-funded operation.
So, let's get the bad news out of the way first.
Q3 was pretty rough!
Isn't the entire point of having a company made of online magazine veterans is not to have them learning the basics? We're all still learning how to run this thing to the best of our ability, and we definitely learned a lot during the previous quarter!
Yeah splurging it on traveling to cons no one gives a shit about sounds about right.A couple of the changes we've already made:
Probably less event coverage videos like GDC or PAX West. While they're fun and we as a team wanted to test how they would do with our new audience, they're just not super cost effective due to the travel costs involved (at least for right now).
"Ideally we will work with billion dollar brands, but for the near future we'll work with shit brands that no one cares about".Signed with Ace Creators. This is an influencer management agency that is working with us to acquire sponsorships from bigger brands. Think companies like LG, Asus, bigger publishers etc. There is no cost associated with this for us as they work on commission. I (Nick) continue to work on our smaller indie game sponsorships along with companies like GameMaker, Roll for Combat, and others.
No one gives a shit about your merch unless it's Yahtzee or DND related.Rethinking merch strategy. While we will of course still have our fun branded merch for our shows, we also want to make merch that appeals to a wider audience. Expect some really cool new designs soon that we're working to make in collaboration with Shark Robot. We will have more consistent drops as well as we head into 2025.
"You see we intended to lose money!".Quarterly tax payments. It's important to note from our Q2 report that while we reported a loss that quarter, it was planned. We raised a lot of money in 2023 when we launched and we had ZERO expenses for that year as we weren't paying ourselves yet. That tax bill was a big lump sum payment that we had planned for, and now in 2024 we're paying our taxes every quarter as noted in this month's report.
I get being transparent and all, but is this something they should be sharing? lolTheir latest finances:

They acknowledge they're making too much content. Their solution is to... make more content. What's funny is that content would probably find another audience if it wasn't tied to Yahtzee's. YT doesn't like channels with lots of vids but only a few being watched. The film stuff is definitely good enough to find a home somewhere else, but the algorithm's not recommending it outside of Yahtzee's viewers, which let's be honest, the ones still left after 17 years only watch him. Well, except the D&D stuff. Nothing can save that.
Expect gambling/crypto ads before content gets cut back. I think Nick likes playing MCN manager. "Look at my portfolio of shows, I'm just like Bob Iger". Either that or Yahtzee does more topical videos, i.e. rush out a ZP for tomorrow shitting on the new Dragon Age. Given the decline in quality from his heydays of Eve Online and Hunt Down the Freeman, I worry a phoned in ZP would genuinely suck. It's a shame Cold Take's dead, and nothing's really taken that Monday spot. Frost was their 2nd biggest moneymaker, but paid their 2nd lowest salary.
On that note, did anyone play Starstruck?Has anyone read Will Leave the Galaxy for Good, and is it any good? I really liked the first two, but I can imagine that the background levels of Current Year in the writing have only risen.
